Randomization in HOMM3
I'm using Heroes 3 Complete with HD mod and whenever I play my custom map, everything battle-related that's supposed to be random is the same every time (faerie dragons always use the same spells, units always get morale at the same time, gorgon gaze works at exact same time etc.) which is starting to annoy me. So, where does the game take its randomization seed from so that I can randomize it a bit? Or is it HD mod's fault?

I think restarting the game should help.
Aside from that, it seems certain actions from player influence the seed too. Type of action taken in battle on a given turn, possibly some actions on adventure map too. But I have never seen a fully complete and detailed explanation on that, these are just my observations from game.
Fairies probably will use different spells if you attack with different army, or on a different day, or with a different hero, or if(provided you have fast enough creature) you do another type of action with it, like defending instead of waiting or attacking instead of moving.

Random seed is set and stored in savegame. Each hero has determined skill tree and each mage guild has fixed spell set. If you restart the map, all objects will be randomized in exactly same way.
However, someone mentioned actions in battle depend on mouse movement or other kind of activity. Certainly you will get different rolls in every battle, but they are also repetitive.
Not sure if HD mod has any effect on that, though.
