H3 - Garrisons as map element: seeing their content?
Hi.
I came up with this questions about Heroes3 "garrisons". They could be used as a map element to add different flavor in battles besides a group of certain type of monsters that are all the same. In garrisons, you can place seven different types of monsters and set the amounts of each stack.
However, when you play a map with a garrison, you cannot view information about a garrison and which troops it contains (at least not if the garrison is NEUTRAL) - not even the enemy types guarding it. That makes the encounter bit too random at the first time you bump into a garrison blocking your path in my opinion.
You can of course skip this by placing a text event before the garrison but I find it a bit clumsy way.
I recall seeing the troop-types a garrison holds before. What are the variables that let one see what's in a garrison?
Is having rogues within your army the only way? Or is there some other variables to view garrison's content? I'm asking, because I can't remember exactly what affects this other than Rogues, if any.
Thanks.

I’ve tested this, and the creature types in the garrison do appear in my version of normal Heroes III Complete. The quantity does not show (unless they are my own creatures). This goes for both neutral and enemy garrisons (haven’t tested allied), and it’s irrespective of whether the creatures are removable or not. Are you sure you haven’t simply encountered empty garrisons?
