I was almost sure about this when I saw the big "III" picture on the FB-page yesterday. My overall expression is joyful, but the missing content from AB and SoD is very sad and makes the HD edition lesser valuable than expected. I really hope that Ubi somehow manage to recreate the expansions.
The new graphics are okay, but basically looks like HoMM III fanart that can be found on DerviantArt. I did though never realize the Bone and Ghost Dragons actually have arms! So good job on making that more visible. What is really great about this for me is the improved multiplayer. I even thought about the possibility for simturns in HoMM III, but maybe that is too much to ask for.

Bit of a pity that the expansion content isn't included, but the absence of Conflux, miscellaneous units that I never use anyway, and campaigns I never play are acceptable losses for such a fantastic HD makeover, as far as I'm concerned.
Hopefully we'll see the expansion content updated down the road, but to receive even just the (already extensive) original game is amazing on its own.

mmh7.ubi.com said: Community team note: But why only RoE? To understand the origin of the project and its development we need to go back to 2003. At that time we asked New World Computing to retrieve their archives for all the Might & Magic titles. We found tons of documentation and data but regarding Heroes III we had nothing but the usable source code of Heroes III Restoration of Erathia. .

There is a petition regarding HotA on Ubisoft forums, you can suggest there whatever you want.

Hopefully this won't come with all the quirks fixed by expansions/HD mod/HotA.
Sure it's gorgeous but in case it's going to be just a graphically refurbished version of RoE without any further addition it's not that interesting to me.
Expansion source code lost? What a bloody a joke. Another example why proprietary software development is a disgrace. They could ask WoG/HotA team members which have done a fair amount of reverse engineering.

Initially, I was not too exited, but those screenshots do look nice.
The lack of expansion content is still a bit disappointing, but we'll see how it turns out. I wonder how much still will cost, I hope it won't be too overpriced considering the fact that I still play the original game (with HD mod).

So they finaly did it ... yay heroes 3 in HD... I guess. I don't know if i'll buy it tho. since i already have H3 with all expansions and loads of mods ... If it's more than 10$ probably not. Don't get me wrong. I apreciate the effort, and they deserve support. For those that don't have H3 yet, or their PC can't play it or haven't play it yet tho, it's a must buy.
Also it says it will support android - maybe if i can play it on my cellphone i will reconsider. Yea get some H3 action while waiting for the train to come .
If they include it as a preorder bonus of H7 tho .... then ill preorder.

Anyone else mildly hoping that the HD remake slightly speeds up the Imp/Familiar's walking animation?

Meh. H3 VCMI playable on Android, every expansion playable in HD via mods, this is superfluous. Now if they do an all-expansions HD remake, I'll buy that, but RoE only? Please, I'm too old to play Gremlin rush again.

somehow this is pure madness, but rather with mixed feelings.
There are so many projects out improving Homm3 experience, and all cook their own soup. This is somehow wasted manpower. I dont see any reason for RoE Hd when i have VCMI / HDmod / hota avail, besides the multiplayer steamintegration.
id rather give VCMI or HotA ppl money to continue their work. But thats very personal and subjective view.
For the game itself its a good thing, that it gets new attention and it may addict and pull some ppl to the other projects. Kinda a lighthouse

HD from Baratorch looks ways better, textures do not change. And no words about bugs fix, so what is the purpose, gather money for what we already have for free?

That necropolis town screen looks really neat and great, people who keep saying "we already have HD mod" seem to be forgetting that HD mod lets you see the adventure map in higher resolution but does not improve the graphics of the game itself, all other screens are still in framed mini-screens.
That being said, after getting used to the so many enhancements from Wog+Era+HD mod, I don't think playing RoE or even vanilla H3 Complete will cut it for me, I couldn't even adapt to HotA.
So, the real perk for me is to be able to have it on the iPad, it would be lovely to play small multiplayer maps and having quick battles while laying back in your couch.
A lot of us had wished they made something like this many times here in this forum and now, here it is. So even if it's just RoE, it will be a good opportunity to see how it actually goes. They most probably will add the expansions and even new features with updates, if it sells well and I think on iPad, it really will.

Actually, I can play VCMI quite comfortably on my galaxy note 3, and if they do a touch-centric UI redesign, it'll be even better.

Because you see them improved in that ubi version? I see same graphics, heavy filtered and roughly washed like for a japanese game.
