bug or intended?
Hello, not sure but i got a bit confused that i could cast death Ripple on Nightmares though they dont count as living creatures (and e.g. Vampires cant leech life from them)
did i miss the point somewhere?
btw: is theera complete list of wog/era creatures with detailed abilities and flags (aka is undead, do live etc..)

Nope, you can cast Death Ripple on non-living things as long as they are not specifically undead units such as mummies or ghost dragons as far as I remember. Check if elementals, golems or gargoyles are affected, they are non-living (can't ressurrect) but not undead (can't animate either).
Edit: Still havent switched OS to Windows, so I cant check myself but my memory is playing tricks on me, now I seem to remember elementals and such were also immune to Death Ripple.

hm, according to wog 'new features' description, (or better, lore) nightmares should definitely count as undead (mho), and not be in the between state like elementals and such
Sandro.. took a few of the UNDEAD steeds that were normally used by the black knights and began "working" with them
have to find a poper save to test vs. eles later. will update here.
*Tip: u need a shared data partition with access from all your OS*es

I can see and reach any data, I just can't open the game to test-play.
Here is the description in the info link here though:
DEATH RIPPLE
Sends a wave of death across the battlefield which damages all non-undead units.
Considering even Ghosts are not undead units (I made an Era mod which puts them into undead category) in Wog and get death rippled, I don't think they designed nightmares as officialy undead.

Mho, creaturs should be strictly categorized and have an corresponding flag for such. And/or we need a bettrer defining of existing categories.
mho something like this 4 categories
living (breaths, has blood <- life can be leeched etc)
undead (former living, using body/corpse remains)
elementals
animated matter (anorganic, matter that has not been a corpse)

There are 3 flags in H3 for that matter:
-living
-undead
-unliving
It's interesting that undead flag only gives immunity to some spells(death ripple, bless/curse etc.) and penalty bonus to allied troops. All undead units got both unliving and undead flag, as if a creature with undead flag but without un-living flag has dynamic morale. These are all hard-coded in the exe
