looking for natural animals to put into HoMM3
as the topic says, i'm looking for animated animals(properly cycling) to put into HoMM3. i'm having trouble finding everything the free internet has to offer. i have pulled stuff from Civfanatics, as well as other places.
i found crocodiles, and have been fixing and adding them(which will be in my next object patch):
what i'm looking for is gifs that i can disassemble in photoshop, spritesheets, or any animated animals that i can graphically convert for the game. beavers, ducks, all kinds of birds(with the proper animations, of course. birds flying in a straight line can't be used, as they cannot cycle properly), all kinds of aquatic animals... pretty much anything i can get my hands on that look good enough to be in the game. i can do all the work myself, i just need the resources. i'm lacking in animals for different environments; like cold-weather animals, sea animals(all i have so far is the jumping fish def, which i want more varying types of, and crocs. sea monster graphics are needed, as well), swamp animals, desert animals... just anything that can be thought of.
you get me the resources, and i'll be returning a converted and finished product. i'm having a hell of a time trying to find what i need with google atm. varying and accurate keywords elude me. i stumbled on the crocodiles by mistake, if i remember correctly.

I don't want to trench through muck knowing there are lurking crocolisks nearby. I rather have wild Hydras around, they are at least slow.

zoo tycoon animal rips aren't looking good either.
...anyone know how to open .xtd files?

World of Warcraft, 3Ds max, then you rip all. I extracted about 20 animals from (gorillas, donkeys, horses, cows etc-they are in wakeofgods.org/mods, graphic packages) but didn't push further. In general lurkers like map living decorations but players not too much, as they constantly confuse the game-play.

i already have the animals that were released from patches you uploaded(and have them in the line-up to be worked on). i wish the zebra didn't look like it was wearing bell-bottoms, but i guess they did that in WoW(why would they do that, ffs?)?
as for 3ds max, i don't use torrent sites, and i haven't been able to find a working copy, so that's a no-go for me.
i wouldn't understand people not liking more objects in the game. i never get anyone arguing over the screens i post; they seem to enjoy the immersion. and i think the animals help to create that, certainly. they can also be used in the map; i don't just have them as decoration.
strike that; i just remembered, some people didn't care for my improved transparent ocean(on vk), because it had more detail. but guys have probably complained about blowjobs before, too.

I'm no 3D modeler but I've heard Blender is free alternative.

i think i have blender downloaded already. but if i'm not mistaken, there're only certain scripts for certain 3d programs.

The question is not which is free or not, but which can extract then render models, and Blender can't.

that's what i meant.
damn, there's only a handful of animations i can use from stronghold crusader. most of the animations are walking or running animations, that i can't use.

Without 3D tools, in 2015 you won't find anything to extract from. The most recent games within bmp compression were Age of Empires, quite old.

and where are all their animals? i see some that weren't released in your patches...
come to think of it, there are a lot of game rips that are missing more than just animals from it. objects that were in the first WoG, that belonged to another game, and yet there were a lot of objects missing. is there any reason why that would be? i have been wondering about that for a while.

i appreciate the continuing help guys, even if it is something i've already pored over. i will appreciate any continuing help, as well. the more resources i have, the more i can convert/fix and put into my next object patch.
edit: i made an error before. the types of files i need to open are .ztd files, not .xtd files. from zoo tycoon.

I've asked about making DEFs and distributing them.
Licence doesn't permit making DEFs and distributing them.
Only if they used in project/stand-alone game.
So better contact author before publishing material used from this site.

Oh you know, patch 1.09 uses material from 50 famous games. Patch "composite objects" uses 3D material from 10 games. And I am not yet in jail, nor gained even 1$ from working on them. At this tiny level, I don't think anyone cares about. Is not like our maps will reach World of Warcraft fame level.

I wrote it to modders who care
There is author, human in flesh, who made these sprites. I think it's not the same as taking from some corporation which assigns works of many authors leaving them emptyhanded.

Sure, and his name should be mentioned. But himself uploaded his work and made it free, while the materials we "borrowed" from games are under copyright and can't be acquired for free.
Beside, if fred contacts him and shows his screens, I am sure the guy will be happy someone cares about.
