I hate those "+1 elite growth" heroes. I always felt, this ability exists only because developers were lacking in ideas for more inovative specials. In H3 and in H5, this was understandable to extent, since there were a lot of diferent specials already. But to be out of ideas so soon?

In H3 & H5, those specials weren't growth. They were +x stats for every y Hero level (after level z).

Yeah I am kinda disappointed about the growth specials too.
However I find it interesting that one of these specials affects the growth of griffins too,I mean we knew griffins are in the game, but we still don't know in what way.
So either we have a hero who actually supports the growth of a neutral unit,or griffins are actually recruitable for the haven town under some circumstances.

We already know that in the Final Campaign, playable after beating one of the faction campaigns, we play as Ivan. In that campaign, we have been confirmed that we can recruit Griffins from Haven towns. So those special circumstances are Playing the Final Campaign. Undoubtably, Griffins are present as neutrals in the rest of the game.

Most of them ... but I belive there were still heroes which increased growth of pesants or cerebri ... But I can be wrong, I don't recall perfectly every hero's special. One thing I remember is Artifacts with this ability existed tho.
Bottom line I'm trying to say. I dislike this ability as a whole, no matter if it's artifact or special ... well ok, maybe if it's skill, like diplomacy, that'd be cool, since you could create "governer hero" I suppose. But I dislike this fact to recruit a hero for a sole purpose of garisoning a city

There aren't any such specialties except one thatgave you acertain number of goblins at the beginning of each week.
Generally speaking though Heroes V specialties, especially in ToE, had asubstancial diversity and since it most cases their power grows with increasing levels you could have felt a difference while picking one hero instead of another. Heroes VI lacked that so badly.

I liked the way Heroes 5 managed the specializations. But what if, instead of flat bonuses, a specialization would evolve with the hero? For example, Edric could start with + 5 production to griffins, but then at level 5 could unlock + 1 attack to griffins every X levels. Then, when he's high enough, give the battle dive ability to griffins. I think that way it would be much more interesting.

An interesting idea. It would make the specials function somewhat like the dynasty weapons of H6.
Though it would require a lot of work from the devs to get such a proposal balanced.

This got me intrigued. So you would be able to get more bonuses as well as abilities to your creatures as the Hero progresses. I think it would be a nice touch to specialization and they would definitely feel more important that way.

I proposed something alone those lines a while ago, when we speculating about Heroes 7 (maybe in Elvin's H7 Faction direction thread).
Giving 'plain' bonus on fixed levels is better & easier to balance than +x%/level.
Still, in my eyes the skill system is way more important than hero specializations.

that's way too complicated and hard to balance. It means that each hero would have 3 abilities - so 3 things to consider when choosing a hero, playing against or balancing.
BTW. Can't just those heroes have +x (alternatively +x%) to HP of the creature like in H6? It's kinda the same as increased growth but it still has relevance in battles.

Hm, what about a special whereby any of a certain creature a hero buys, he/she gets say a 20% discount on the price? So a Manticore/Scorpicore would cost 380/492, a saving of 95/123 per creature, or 380/615 per week.

And again we got boring +X creature/week and +X Magic when casting Hero speciality spell (same as in Heroes 6).
I wonder how hard is to put for example: +5% spell dmg/hero level or +1 att&def/hero level?

No one seems to be happy with these specializations. I hope they will change while there is still time for it.
