[VCMI] Modding ideas
Let's start thread for some ridicule or new ideas in VCMI modding
I'm still thinking about creating one-screen townscreens for VCMI towns.
What is it and why it is needed?
For example, you got some creatures, and you want faction of Cyber Hamsters. Of cause, you got no townscreen. Or townscreen is available only in form of builded town (like it's with Acid Cave's Heavenly Forge with railways - team don't want to publish materials, so only sollution to insert Railway Town to game - is to use one screenshot available.
Or you want a dummy townscreen while preparing to make one in future.
So building process will not be shown in this townscreen by drawing buildings.
I took Inkscape and made first sketches of how onescreen town should look:
When City Hall is builded, then [City Hall ] will replace [Village Hall].
Same for dwellings - when [Level 1 ] is built, [Level 1 ] button will apear in left screen corner. When [Upgrade 1 ] is built, it will replace [Level 1 ].
If you want to go to Tavern, you click [Tavern ] button.
VCMI allows use of 32-bit PNGs, so when mouse will be over buttons they will be highlighted.
Background will have your townscreen. Buttons will have color not overlaping with background colors.
What do you think of this idea?

UPD Polish community started thread to create a project of replacing HMM3 assets with free ones (to have VCMI without need of HMM3).
One-screen townscreens can make temporary solution for replacing townscreens of 3DO

Next i think to restore my friendship with Github and MSVS and try to make some lesser addings to VCMI functionality.

Another ideas for scripting boats (when scripting is implemented).
1) Submarines - add submarines (give immunity to whirpools)
2) Battleships - some boats will have cannons on board, when boated hero enters combat, he will gain ballista/cannon even if he didn't bought war machine.
3) Cruisers - will give bonus to sea movement
4) Transports - like in Warcraft 2 - will remove landing/boarding penalty (move after boarding)
Idea for artifacts
1) Add artifacts, then can be used only by male or female heroes (to make use of gender thing - now it's only for decorative means).
2) Add artifacts, than can be used only by heroes reached some level. For example, some +15 attack sword can be used only by heroes of 15th level.

the possibility of being able to buy different kinds of ships in the shipyard, specifically the types macron posted, is a really cool idea. i'd love to see a feature like that, in-game.
on an semi-related note: i'm not sure if any Forge team thought of using a submarine or steamboat for their ship, but i sure have.

A few ideas:
Creature Level artifacts - An artifact that only boost creatures at certain levels.
Ex: Meager Rations -/- +1 HP for level 1 cratures in hero army
Faction Banner - Creatures from equiped Banner faction have 1 less morale penalty when mixed with more creatures. Only 1 per Hero. If hero pick a banner up from another faction 2 choices appear:
- Destroy picked banner
- Replace banner and destroy old banner
Adventure Map Object Boosts - When visiting an object on the map the visited object gets a boost
Ex: Dead Girls Doll -/- +10% output from Altar of Sacrifice

Low numbers mod concept
This is a mod concept for those who like low numbers and prices
Heroes will gain next level every two so far levels
primary skills values of every hero and creature reduced by half (with little rounding)
decresed artifacts' stats about half (on example of Angelic Alliance and Power of Dragon Father)
Armor of Wonder Armor of Wonder 0/1/1/1
Sandals of the Saint 1/1/1/1
Celestial Necklace of Bliss 1/2/1/2
Lion's Shield of Courage 2/2/2/2
Sword of Judjement 3/2/2/2
Helm of Heavenly Enlightenment 3/3/3/3
combined in Angelic Aliance +11 all primary skills
Quiet Eye of the Dragon Quiet Eye of the Dragon +1 atack
Dragonbone Greaves +1 knowledge
Red Dragon Flame Tongue Red Dragon Flame Tongue +1 attack, +1 defence
Dragon Wing Tabard + 1 spell power, +1 knowledge
Dragon Scale Shield +1 attack, +2 defence
Necklace of Dragonteeth Necklace of Dragonteeth +2 spell power, +1 knowledge
Dragon Scale Armor +2 attack, +2 defence
Crown of Dragontooth +2 spell power, +2 knowledge
combined in Power of Dragon Father +5 or +6 all primary skills(+luck and morale bonus)
it allows to use H2 artifacts in original values at similar power that they had in H2
decresed population in towns by half; Citadel required to build 5th and 6th level dwellings; Castle required to build 7th level dwelling
population boost prices in gold balance: the same for for example 3000HP (15 Phoenixes or Devils = 12 Archangels = 10 Ancient Behemots or Titans)
Library of Enlightment: +1 all primary skills
Arenas: +1 attack or defence
maybe optional desreased number of Mercenary Camps, Marletto Towers, Star Axis, Gardens of Revelation, Schools of War, Schools of Magic and Arenas on adventure map
optional desrease of all incomes and prices in gold by one order of magnitude (erase of last 0); exept Gold Mines
now spells changing primary skill values will be stronger or we can optional reduce their bonuses by half too

It wasn't a secret. First few values are fixed, then difference goes up by 20% every level.

Those who don't like are not obligated to play this potential mod.
Those who would like to use H2 artifacts can multiply their primary skills change by 2.

Some H2 fans...These numbers from H3 are not bad but seemed to me to high when H3 was released. It's a question of preference. Even if few people like it. Does everybody like to play in every option in WOG setup? Why to use big numbers if they can be lesser?
Primary skill limit doubles then. Lesser strenght of exaggerated heroes with monster, Logistics, Attack, Defence etc speciality.

I think what Warmonger means is who will spend so much time to do it (because this will taking a lot of coding, recalculate everything, then test to see loopholes and so on).
The problem with single requests is that the only way to see them materialized is that the person requesting makes them.

It's not the request.
My way of thinking is : Do it ERM-scripter if you like it and share it if you want to. I will do it anyway if I find out everything needed for this in ERM(is it somewhere completly described?) or I will do it when more convenient tool for this will be available.
Is not the thread Modding Ideas?
