Welcome to the community!

This is the installation guide and the system requirements for the mod. You can see some of the bugs/wierd things that are present here.

The mod will allow you to play all the single player campaigns - Vanilla, HOF and Tote! The only requirement is to to use Utility.exe file to launch the game.

This is because the official mod exe (MMH55x64.exe) uses advanced AI that is not compatible with campaign scripts.

I have added the following extended description to the FAQ about palying campaigns because it is not entirely true all campaigns must be played with MMH55_Utility, most missions work with regular AI and will be calculated much faster (especially dungeon campaign which is disastrously slow).

All campaigns H5/HOF are included and some people have played them all the way through, but still some anomalies have been reported. This is because the new AI was written for multiplayer and does not understand all original campaign scripts. If you encounter issues you can use the MMH55_Utility.exe to play missions with the old AI, you can basically switch AIs between missions. I recommend playing Wulfstan Campaign with MMH5.5_Utility, but the Findan campaign with the default exe since I made some code adjustments for new AI. I also recommend playing some Raelag missions with new AI because it is extremely slow otherwise.

TotE was amazing but incomplete to me. The community made some impressive mods and I played with ~80 of them ! Are those mods still compatible after the install of the 5.5 ? I perhaps have to test each of them to make sure. I'm impatient to test it

installation problem

Hi, I'm super excited about this mod, H5 being one of my favourite games (and remembering how awesome WoG was). Unfortunately I'm having trouble installing the newest updates. I've downloaded ToE from GOG and I'm trying to install mod RC8b. The installation starts but fails halfway through with a message like "dataMMH55-HDTex.pak: This file contains invalid data. (error 11FD)". I tried older versions (RC8 & RC7a) and got the same problems (different files are being reported as a problem). I've also tried re-downloading the game and the mod, installing on different drives, disabling autovirus, running as admin. I've read the FAQ and I'm always modding the game after fresh install.

Version RC6 works fine. I'm really out of ideas now. Does anyone have any clue what to do to get newer versions working as well?

edit: forgot to say I'm using Windows 10

This is reported for the first time, so i think for some reason between your PC and moddb something goes wrong during the download, damaging the file. Maybe try downloading it when traffic is low or use another browser.

Another possibility: your HD is heavily fragmented.

I am using a relatively new SSD and two freshly formatted HDDs so I wouldn't expect fragmentation to be a problem.

It worked. I downloaded the file from another mirror to another HDD (a new partition that I hadn't used before yet), and it run fine. A curious mind that I am, I downloaded it yet again to this "working" HDD using yet another mirror and a different browser. It didn't work. The only difference between a working download and 4-5 failed downloads seems to be the source (mirror), but yet if I'm the only one this has happened to, then it's likely a problem on my side. Really confusing. I'm just gonna tell myself "Windows does weird things sometimes" and try not think about it anymore

I'm happy that it worked and that I can now explore this amazing-looking mod. Thanks a lot for your help and suggestions.

How exactly AI discount rush functions? Does AI build one town object and then script automatically builds another object, or does AI build twice per day with lower building prices?
I ask because I see lot of uneven development when I surf through AI town development. For instance, factions that have pure magic heroes as first choice tends to build mage guilds to fullest, and factions that have might or middle class as a first choice tends to build whole city except the magic guild.
Since I didn’t make extensive research I suppose it might be just a matter of anecdotal coincidence, but still, it is interesting even as a coincidence.
I usually play with AI discount rush set to maximum of 90 days.

Crossbowman shows MAX range and it should be half.

Concerning sacrificial altars, would it be possible to enable choice between sacrificing creatures and sacrificing artifacts for all factions?

I've also noticed, that mob  Rakshasa Kshatras sometime bug, and all they do is use the dash ability over and over. Possibly if they can not reach me, in my current in one move.

Usually it asks you. probably you have not activated scripts.

This happened to me but on a very very rare occasion so I dont think it should bother you. Besides there is nothing that can be done.

Damn, I've seen now... But I don't like the idea, at all... well without the war machines skill I wouldn't bother, but since with the War Machines skill, and the tent abilities plus I have the ammo cart, I'd rather use it a few more times at least, even if not infinite times.

This is the first I've gone with those, but in this form, it's no good at all :


It does actually make combat more strategic, once you factor it in... have a stack take a few hits in sequence before healing up the lot, instead of continually topping it up to max. - On that note however, I'd like to know whether Plague Tent activations count towards that total? I haven't tested it yet, but assuming this is the case I have so far desisted from getting the perk such as not to squander my precious revival shots.

Any more and it would be totally op in earlygame. Resurrecting 300hp worth of units in week 1 is insanely good

That said it would be fantastic if it could be scaled with hero level so that you get extra tent uses in lategame. But if not the skill cannot be improved without throwing the balance out of the window. WM are an early-midgame skill anyways.

Tent has 3 uses in total. It does not matter if you heal or damage with them.
Its power increase with hero level so the player should be careful how he uses the 3 heals !

Scripts are active and doing just fine. Question about sacrificial altars is can they be scripted.

Most of those are NCF and will not be compatible, I recommend first playing without mods for a while then check what you think is still missing.

@Skeggy:

The sacrificial altar cannot be scripted.
