Sorry man, bought the game, but I'm so far fallen into my Samurai phase that I wouldn't be able to fully appreciate this game, same reason why I haven't played Inquisition yet, that and cause I still have to drag my ass through DA2 (which I haven't done cause the textures make me physically ill).
I messed up W2 as well on my last run, went with Roche but that route felt so out of touch with Geralt's personality imho, after the first game I really didn't see why he gave two damns about Foltest's death at all, I can get that he wants to find Letho, that's cool, but I can't get behind the whole revenge thing, especially when even Geralt thought that Foltest was a **** (vagina).

Revenge? Geralt wanted to clear his name, he was labelled kingslayer in several kingdom - effectively a death sentence in Temeria and a recipe for problems (at least) everywhere else. He couldn't care less about Foltest in other circumstances although you might say that he liked him a bit more than the other Northern rulers - i.e. he didn't consider him a unsavoury son of *****.

Is it really true what I read about subpar magic (signs)? Cause literally, no game as of late managed to interest me with anything else but magic/abilities and if that is present, might as well skip out on it.

Thanks for very interesting review. What about loading times, are they as in Skyrim or less? Actually I find Skyrim quests system unplayable because of it. Entering every building of a town is bringing loading screen 10-15 sec, entering each town/out is taking up to one minute.

Thanks for the QP.
I tried to keep these posts spoiler-free. A few minor things are mentioned - most of them obvious from the trailers and other pre-release advertisements - but I doubt anyone will be able to figure out the story from them. Your choice though.

There is no loading inside each region (there are 4 of them - 2 huge ones and 2 smaller, one of which is sort of a "tutorial" area) so theoretically you can explore the entire place from end to end without the Loading... stuff. There's one "but" though - you can initiate instant travel via road signs as soon as you discover them so you can "teleport" from point A to point B instead of walking/riding all the way - in this case there is some loading time but usually it's quick and it's certainly much faster than the regular travel. Loading each region - from a save or when you travel to it from another region - takes around 30-40 seconds on my PC but you should not need to do that very often... except if you die too much.

The Signs have support function. Lore-wise the witchers are master swordsmen with some basic magic knowledge to enhance their adaptability in combat and the game mechanics reflect that. If you want to build a sorcerer throwing fireballs and Force lightning at the enemies, that's not the game for you. If you're fine with some sort of a "battle mage" with a clear focus on the swordplay rather than the spell-casting, you may like it.

You know there's a mod for that right .

Are the signs balanced in W3? I mean the only sign you truly needed was yrden, and quen if playing on higher difficulties but it wasn't a must, plus ydren turned most boss fights into easy mode even on Nightmare.

In Assassins of Kings I had no problems on higher difficulties with Aard alone.
The balance between the Signs is terrible initially but gets somewhat better when you accumulate extra Sign Intensity and develop skills from the "magic" tree. Igni is very powerful from the start and gets nearly ridiculous later when it triggers burning nearly every time - even huge monsters are baked in no time. Aard on the other hand starts terribly but with some investment becomes usable and even good. Yrden now slows down the hostiles rather than paralyzing them but covers thrice bigger area and turns golems, elementals and similar big and cumbersome fellas into vegetables. I haven't used Axii much but generally it seems to work well against opponents which are resistant to other Signs. Quen doesn't seem to expire and combined with the defensive moves can effectively render Geralt nearly immune to damage.

You mean removing the loading screen graphics, linked by Adrius? I already have it, changes are minimal, instead of 50 seconds, now is 45.

Nono, mods like open cities, you need a rig that can handle it though, but it seems like exactly what you're looking for, not to reduce loading screens but circumvent a lot of them altogether. (plus open cities adds to the immersion as towns get attacked by bandits and dragons outside of scripted encounters)

Ah ok, didn't know about that one. However it is not compatible with any mod adding things to cities, so I will have to choose one or another (I have 20+ such mods).
Thanks, will give a try.

Wild Hunt is currently 30% off on GOG for several more days. The Witcher 1 and 2 are 85% off, almost for free.
