kiryu133 said: That doesn't mean it's not deep since there are still several viable options: economy, military or something else (which is why i also propose buildings focused on exploration). In the example of H3 stronghold there are even two paths for military: cyclopses or Behemoths. It's not about what is the best choice but that there are two viable ones depending on situation. That is several outcomes from a small pool of tools, or depth.
these optimal paths can also change with different "metas" going in and out of fashion, changing things up: what worked then does not necessarily work now due to a build countering that one etc. That's is however probably really hard to implement without the use of patches or updates.
That is kind of my point. Town building will never be more interesting than it already is because there will always be a best path for a certain situation. These paths will never change for if you do you will lose to the player using the prescribed path or win slower if fighting an AI. No matter the resources no matter the restrictions no matter the order of buildings there will always arise paths that must be used killing diversity this was the same argument used for random skills as well. There is never two ways to meet the same goal only one.

Kiryu, the word "recourse" means something completely different from "resource". I think you mean the latter, but you wrote the former .

What I'm saying is there would be more than one situation and as such more than one optimal path. Lack of depth would be the same optimal path for every situation. The best way would be several optimal paths for every situation but that would be extremely hard to succeed at, with or without patches.
But we're going off topic. I propose a tweaked H3 way of town development.

Dunno, lol. But someone who's name I won't mention didn't know the word "recourse" . Not everyone is as well versed in English, of course. For those who want to learn:
recourse
noun: recourse; plural noun: recourses
a source of help in a difficult situation.
"surgery may be the only recourse"
synonyms: option, possibility, alternative, possible course of action, resort, way out, place/person to turn to, source of assistance, available resource, hope, remedy, choice, expedient; refuge
"surgery may be the only recourse"
resource
noun: resource; plural noun: resources
a stock or supply of money, materials, staff, and other assets that can be drawn on by a person or organization in order to function effectively.
"local authorities complained that they lacked resources"
synonyms: assets, funds, wealth, money, riches, capital, deep pockets;
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuut this is completely off-topic, apologies!
