Runtime error 216
I want to start mapping in era II, so i launched h3wmaped (thinking it is the era II map editor and i get Runtime error 216 at <random adress>
so, is there any way i can fix that?

Make sure you installed it over Heroes 3 SoD or complete edition. Which should not be in program files if win 7 or more.

i have heroes 3 complete installed, and it is not in program files, i have a folder on desktop, that is where i keep my game

okay, then, when you install era II, should specify this path (desktop...etc). Then, if installed correctly, should work. If still doesn't, then make a screen of your Heroes folder and show here.

Looks like install is ok. Can you start the game using h3era.exe?
The normal editor is working? (h3maped.exe)

h3era.exe works just fine, just as h3maped.exe

Then I have no idea, never meet this error. Just in case you got Heroes 3 by ... hum... illegal ways, try another torrent, maybe the one you got was corrupted or something like that (I see _Install_ folder which I don't have).
Also try reinstalling both again in C: (your hard drive), maybe from desktop can't work, no idea.

Got the same problem a long time ago, I just reinstalled Era and it worked.

reinstall? you mean like run the installer and replace the files?

I remember I just installed ERA over the old one, tough I'm not sure, it was quite a while ago

i installed it over the old one, as you said, and nothing happend, still, the other applications like h3era.exe are working just fine

Add exception for Heroes 3 editor in Data Execution Prevention(DEP) - system properties - advanced - performance - settings
This is the fix for Win 7 for unknown for it programs and is working for me at least
