Facebook provides internet for everybody... And for free?

Internet.org is a new project that aims to bring the Internet to everybody(e.g on a global scale). Rumour has it that this service is free. According to the website itself, it is said that 2 thirds of the whole world isn't connected to internet. Google already provides basic internet access for free, but only to its three host cities. Discuss and tell more please.

I believe this is just marketing. Considering this is Facebook we are talking about.

If it were a neutral-party that makes this, I wouldn't make such claims. Then again, it might be taken down by US laws or somesuch.

Facebook, as far as I've read, is who came up with the idea. The list of participants in the project are:
Ericsson, Mediatek, Opera Software, Samsung, Facebook, Nokia, and Qualcomm.

Hm. I can't say much. But I doubt that's their intention. Despite the radical action, I can't feel but say there is something deeper behind this. Could be they can keep an eye on internet users even more closely, meaning they know who visits which site.

Think positive man! I, for one, am positive there is something in the shadows with this project Jokes aside, while it's doubtable, I can only hope that that's not true. But hey, I'm okay as long as Microsoft is out of the question, if you get what I mean... Not like I'll use their internet anyways, they'd probably throttle your connection if you torrent... In short, this is too good to be true, as much as I like to believe none of this is true.
