Poll Question: Heroes VII - a game for 2015?
I am wondering, is Heroes VII a game for its time?
If one compares the games for the time they were made, it is obvious Heroes 3 and 5 take the lead. Heroes 1 was still in the core, while Heroes 2 improved gameplay and graphics from Heroes 1. Heroes 4 still had good gameplay, but the gamepplay differs a lot from other Heroes. (Guess that is why the story is off the charts.) Heroes 6, as you can see, has improved graphics, but the gameplay staggered a lot.
From my opinion, Heroes VI failed to be the game for its time. I am aware the devs claim games these days need more money and time for development, and I agree, even with the claim that they want to appeal other people's standards (probably because of this new approach of graphics over gameplay).
So, now that you have experienced the second beta, and taking the entire in consideration [bugs (though not all of them have been fixed yet], gameplay, graphics, story (best to wait until the vanilla)], do you think Heroes VII is a good (or bad) game for 2015?
If you don't want to vote yet, then you could wait until the vanilla is released.

It is a game of its time but its publisher. Ubi has no faith in Heroes not the genre, meaning much gets cut, however they are mislead or just stupid.
It could be a great game if they cared, but they do not.

I made my statement clear. No. Not anymore. There's a place for these games on the market, but not on its very top.

So what you are saying it is a game for, say, 2010?

IMO Team Erwin and Limbic probably have plenty of money to create a great TBS but are just using it incompetently,
I think the crap "TBS is a dead genre and we get no budget" excuse would have been gotten away with a few years ago, but today it is nothing but a moronic and tired excuse because Kickstarter has proven what a rancid lie it is lol
if we are routinely able to get games like Massive Chalice, The Banner Saga, War of the Overworld etc made for under $1m then whining about low budgets will not really fly any more from a rich multinational publisher with a billion dollars lol

I thought Ubi gave them some cash. But it wouldn't be that much, since it is a franchise they just "bought rights away from".
Or the reason just lies in profit from MMX and H6, considering they are just "shadows of Might & Magic series".
But yeah, they could at least launch a Kickstarter. But, wouldn't people be afraid, fearing where the money may actually go into?
So I doubt it is all black and white.

I'd call it a 2015 game for sure, despite all the flaws it has...I'm still confident this game will succeed
Though, its not my favorite heroes game...My favorite heroes game is Heroes 2, and likely will always be.

Does seem like it. Town screens are 1990s though.

Yeah, that's what you get when devs say "townscreens are unimportant".

Yes, I agree. I lost my interest in Heroes6 within 1 year. Am now still playing Heroes5. And the graphics of 7 not really my taste.

Thing is, this isn't the *time* of TBS, which is sad. When there are not many games of its kind on the market, the only one/few lack motivation/incentive to innovate.

I don't really understand what the OP is trying to say. Is 2015 deemed the year of epic gaming? New games come out all the time that suck so what does a game worthy of 2015 mean beyond the game's graphics?
Its a fun game and It's got good graphics imo, and it's coming out in 2015...so yea....

It is meant if the entire game is suited for 2015. This means if the game follows the trends of the other games and retains its "original value", so to speak.

So is it a worthy successor to the past games as well as keeping up to date with software improvements? To that I would say only time will tell. Heroes is a game that should shine in the long run with #replayability
