[MMH5.5] Compatibile maps database
This is a topic for everyone interested in handcrafted Heroes 5.5 maps. The maps will be collected on my Onedrive disk, as I don't have any hosting account. If someone is willing to provide a hosting, we can place them there too.
What is considered a H5.5 compatibile map?
The map's in-game name should start with (H5.5) so you're sure you use most of the mod's features. Besides, it needs to set the following:
* Uncheck every hero in Map Properties
* Uncheck all the artifacts
* Uncheck all the spells
You can do this outside of the editor if you like. Quoting Magnomagus:
Quote: Activate all artifacts, TOE spells and heroes for the map (this is safest done by editing the .xdb file in the .h5m archive with a text editor or directly from 7z. EDIT Example as RMG map:
<spellIDs/>
<artifactIDs/>
<isUntransferable/>
<AvailableHeroes/>
Right now we've collected 5 maps:
1v1 Ability by SirGauvain
1v1 Hourglass by Jb239
1v1 Dragonscape by Fosgen
1v1v2 Power of Dragons by Markkur
2v2 Bridge of Fire by Markkur
You can download them all here:
http://1drv.ms/1Ouk59g
Those maps should be compatibile, but I can't 100% guarantee that!
Post your submissions below. I'll update this post (as well as the OneDrive folder) with your maps and/or provide an additional download link.
If you're an author of one of the maps and you don't give us a permission to use them, reply in this topic and I'll delete them immediatelly.

EDIT: Issues have been fixed
Hi, thank you for starting the effort, but these maps are no good this way.
There is no point in uploading maps and then telling others how to make them compatible!
The maps should only be uploaded after they where made compatible using the procedure I described, so they are ready to play.
These maps are in actually buggish and contain false "ARTIFACT_NONE" entries.
Quote: * Uncheck every hero in Map Properties;
* Check all the artifacts
* Check all the spells (except Summon Boat and/or Instant Travel if that's what the map requires)
No, this method makes the maps incompatible instead of compatible.
Quote: * Remove all other folders except "Maps" in the map root folder
No, this creates bugs, if the maps have other folders they cannot be used for H55, only an advanced user can fix them with lots of work

Sorry, I must have misunderstood you. I thought that I could make them compatibile with just an editor and I've tried that but I see now that it indeed messed up some artifacts and not each one if available. I didn't intent to post unfinished maps, I just messed up.
Anyway, I now took the editing map.xdb approach. I removed all the lines on
Quote:
<spellIDs/>
<artifactIDs/>
<isUntransferable/>
<AvailableHeroes/>
In <objectives> object. Ant it's an equivelent of unchecking everything from "Artifacts", "Heroes" and "Spells" tabs in Map Properties if I understand correctly.
I re-uploaded all the maps. Please check them in your free time and see if they're OK now.
Quote: No, this creates bugs, if the maps have other folders they cannot be used for H55, only an advanced user can fix them with lots of work
That's good to now. The maps I uploaded didn't have those folders, so they should be good to go. I'll remember to avoid them.
When you validate whether they're good, I'll edit my original post to match the real guidelines.

Yes, Now they are good
It often only takes 7z and its edit txt file function to make a map compatible, but it can help to run the map at least once (using @H55_NoFog(1) console command to see if everything is ok.
Optionally to make the maps more fun new adventure objects can be added using the new objects template I posted in the mapmaking thread.

Yes, but if you do it with txt editor you can be sure the editor doesn't mess up.

These were both made by me. I'm surprised since I made maps for a long while when I was nearly the only one that still made H5 maps, that my name would have been lost and not the maps? Fyi, my Power of Dragons Quantomas included with his A.I. when first released.
Btw, if Power of Dragons is liked I'd suggest getting the better map along the same story-line...a map called DarkWorld. It's one of my favorites of all the maps I made.
Glad to see those two maps at least work with Mag's great effort.
Note: In case there's any doubt; any map I made will have my name in the interior files of the map. Unless someone is a real you-know-what.
Cheers Markkur

Sorry that I didn't include you! Bridge of Fire indeed has your name (I knew I had your maps because it was the name that connected most of my favourites) but I don't know how I missed that. Power of Dragons wasn't signed by you though.
Your maps are still being tested by me (well, they're pretty big so you understand that I couldn't check everything), but I do hope they work.
Where can I download the DarkWorld map you were saying? I don't have it in my maps folder (it's been a while since I downloaded my maps, so I don't even remember where I got most of them)

Sorry man...I did not intend to sound...whatever, I was a tad bugged that my name was missing after all the freckin' hours I spent on them. <g>
Anyway here's a link to DarkWorld
http://www.maps4heroes.com/heroes5/maps.php?keywords=&type=3&size=Huge&sort=2&limit=1
From what I've read that Mag has wrote, most of my maps should work since they are not modded but as he said, some are and will not "as is"...i.e.like "Lethos the Necromancer" I embedded Nebdar's Necro-mod inside.
As far as Power of Dragons or DarkWorld...you can delete the scripts and play the maps just fine but of course gathering the Dragon Set will not win the game but the rest is just fluff.(text)
Have fun

I fully understand why you were upset. It's obvious those maps took you a lot of time and I must say the ones I played are masterfully crafted. I used to make maps myself back in the day so I know how much time to you need to pour into them to make something good.
I'm new to this community so you must forgive me that I feel lost. It may take a while until I get everything right.
I can see that in your link there some more of your maps that I haven't got yet. I'll start a new game in DarkWorld in a moment and I see how it plays out. I hope I find enough time to provide an bug free version for MMH5.5 If there are any problems I think they still be good even if e.g. Lethos won't be a necromancer (if that's gonna be a problem)

<imo> Omit the Lethos map, any alterations will destroy the maps scenario and cause confusion between "two."
I hope you are successful in your endeavor. If I can assist in any send me an e-mail.

Gracias amigo. Man, it seems forever since you came out with your PRT and I worked with it and then took many map-pictures and spread the news of your fine work.<L>
Once all is said and done I might make more but actually I have "some" already that have not seen the light of day in the community. (I kind of ran out of steam after Q's site closed, deleting so many hours of my efforts and service to the H5 community. My health is pretty bad now, so I may already be done spending crazy hours creating wonderlands.<sad-but-determined smile> Maybe I'll get a "second-wind."
Btw, I'm glad to see the all the new and not-so-new faces surrounding Mag's latest effort for the community. H5TotE is a great game and no matter the success of H7, like the older versions, H5 still stands as another option to visit the land of HoMM.
Cheers all

I am really looking forwards to hand-crafted H5.5 maps, I guess hand-crafted maps are made based on the ARMG, which can save lots of time.

@dredknight, thanks. I'll look into them although I must admit I started playing around with ARMG and I'm really pleased with the results. I spend most of my games on random maps recently but I'll return to these maps in a moment.

Well, I'm stuck again...
I've done the steps, and at first glance the map doesn't seem to have any conflicting that should conflict with the mod, like I've got the heroes, the governing in my book etc...
Yet still it is broken, for it is offering me vanilla skills, like Estates under Leadership, and the vanilla trainer Knight class skill... :S
The map would be: Forgotten Kingdoms vTOTE ADDED: 7/15/08
I'd be glad if somebody with proper expertise could look into this...
Also if someone has any good suggestions on good Hot Seat maps, that'd be welcome
Anyways: Happy New Year for all!

Thanks, there it is... another map. I was wondering, because I had a fresh clean install of the game with RC5a. But indeed I put 6-7 maps in the maps folder. Though I did not consider the possibility of an another map messing with compatible map.

Yeah, that one was actually also posted in the MapHaven Guild by olorin some time ago. I actually have to admit that I haven't played it a lot, yet. So, I can't say if it's really balanced. I guess it isn't, because the starting situations of each faction are very different. But that's just assuming.
Also, I think the map isn't totally finished, for there are some little problems with the passability.
But, every starting on this map is unique in it's own way and thus every faction just has it's own character in a way. And furthermore the landscape is so shaped that an experienced Tolkien-reader may always know where he is.
So, I do definitely recommend trying this map. It actually reminded me a bit of markkur's Middleearth-map (where I actually also never finished a game, as it was just to large and I was still playing with normal AI when I played this)just with some heroes added.

I usually tool around in old pre-made vanilla maps. I have been working on one such for c. 4-5 months now, but am a perfectionist (and keep ending up dissatisfied with the AI performance-Impossible sized, and for some odd reason the AI often won't build ANYTHING in their starting town on some impossible maps, for like 2-6 weeks). Might finish it this weekend and finally upload it (with proper credit to the original mapmaker).
