New Arcane Knowledge
Hey guys,
I m really annoying by the Arcane Knowledge system. i.e :
Quote:
Level 1 spells require 0 Arcane Knowledge
Level 2 spells require 2 Arcane Knowledge
Level 3 spells require 5 Arcane Knowledge
Level 4 spells require 8 Arcane Knowledge
Learning skills in magic schools provides you Arcane Knowledge points:
Basic (Novice) skills grants 1 Arcane Knowledge point
Advanced ("Expert") skill grants 2 Arcane Knowledge points
Expert (Master) skill grants 3 Arcane Knowledge points
I was thinking to a litlle solution to this wtf system.
The solution is quite simple, Magic Schools in Ashan are now divided between Arcane and Elementals sphere :
Arcane : Prime, Dark, Ligth
Elemental : Air, Fire, Earth, Water
By learning one of these 7 skills, you are able to learn spells from the relative rank. In the new system, you are able to cast every kind of spells which own to the Arcane or Elemental sphere.
For example, if you learn the expert rank of earth, you can cast all fire spells at expert rank. But you can t add points to their abilities.
This idea is coming from the fact that (skills overview) every class heroes are potentially oriented with Elemental or Arcane sphere. Only two class won t have a couple of schools in at least one sphere (Alchemist and Barbarian).
I think it affects no too hard the balance with heroes class overall.
Do you think it s imbalanced with migth heroes ? Is it less or more broken than the previous Arcane Knowledge ? Which system do you prefer ?

So i go on my study with AK.
Let s try to focus us on a basic developpement hero, this hero has 3 schools of magic : one can reach Grand Master, second school up to Master and third school is limited to Expert school.
Then for example, you decide to start your magic hero developping in first the GM and after, one of the 2 others school. So you will spend 9 or 10 points (7 points for the GM path, and 3 points for Expert path) until you ll unlock the third level school of every spells (you now have 5 AK).
Among the two schools (Master and Expert path), your decision is only depending on the powerfull of ability : for most of the case, you have to chose the Master skill, cause you ll unlock faster your master ability (indeed you need at least one ability to unlock the next rank), probably the stronger one...
No matter how the Expert limited school is multi-skilled, your developpment will be safer unlocking the master ability and by the way, have access to all left spells (cause you can now grant other kind of skills).
Spending these 3 last points (to reach the 5 AK) are most important knowing facts :
- coming in the middle stage of the game.
- urgency of developping neutral skill
For conclude, the path developpement is more depending on the powerfull of these abilities, by the way, of their rank limitations rather than a strategy on the developpement of the hero. You can put the Expert limited skill to the trash...
