Necropolis discussion.
What do you guys think of necropolis?
I used to hate them, but I really like the Heroes 7 version. Only one shooter really forces you to play a proper army general. No morale for the undeads and the -15 morale to all enemies, an easy upgrade to get in the necro specialty tree, reduces all surprises to a minimum. It's also the best race to split stack, because the loss of morale after a death doesn't affect the undeads. I found myself creeping the map with only skeletons and ghosts for a while, and it worked well. I could creep almost anything on the map early on with heroic difficulty ; shooters shoots small stacks and melee monsters could lose their retaliation on a decoy before I attack with the real stack, or when the enemy has many stacks, kill the middle stacks first, then attack those up top while I use my decoys to block those from the bottom. Of course, that shooter trick won't work when the AI is fixed, but then again, they will become a snow for every race, not just the undeads. Even with the morale boost due to killing one of your decoys, your -15 morale still negates it down to at least 0, so no surprises.
You really have to play it smart with the undead, compared to Heroes 6's version where you just remained stationary and shot enemies to death. I tried that perfect offense with a huge stack of skeletons and teleport, and it worked very well! Really nasty. With 1 000 skeletons, +1 to base melee damage from the offense tree becomes + 1 000 damage. The teleport spell, upgraded, also grants a +50 initiative to your skeletons, making them no 1 to act in the second turn. Not to mention that after that second turn, you can teleport those skeletons next to his shooters just to be a snow.
Necropolis is really fun now.

New necropolis does rock. It's a truly unique faction compared to the others. I do feel like it's too easy to raise a snow ton of skeletons after just a few battles. Death cloud is sorely missed

Also don't forget to use "Face of Fear", the Dark Magic spell. Especially with the Dark Magic upgrade to take away its retaliation ability is an absolute killer.

Honestly I hate the new necropolis. I kill everything with implosion + teleport(skeleton/ghost) or teleport/teleport. Even shooters can't do anything in general because you get them close to each other with implosion so you can hit and block at same time. Only way to counter those insane skeleton stacks is implosions, but even if necro splits them to 3-6 stacks they will still insta-kill normal players stacks. Necromancy is ridiculously OP. I also hate the fact that once again it's all about core units, I much preferred h5 version of necromancy where it was limited and you could get any troops you wanted.
I also hate how dependent necro is on necromancy (+ prime/dark) + offense/defense. It feels like there is no variety on what to get for heroes or what heroes to use. You gotta boost the cores and both prime and dark will provide spells with you can easily kill gigantic stacks with no losses. Necro just snowballs the map with nothing to challenge them on heroic. On month 3 you can get 3-4k skeletons from single battle, it's just insane. I hate the fact that number of skeletons/ghosts is based on enemy hp, not their unit-numbers. Kill 150 champions, get few thousand units in return. There should definitely be limits to necromancy, even rich and lucky diplomacy hero stands no chance against necro.

Yeah, this is something I absolutely hate about Necromancy as well. Luckily, the AI doesn't seem to get much use out of this, but it's absolutely imbalancing. It also doesn't make sense. So I kill 3 Earth Elementals and my army growns with 7 Skeleton Hoplites and 4 Banshees or something. What the <censored>? But I guess logic doesn't work in Ashan even on this level.

In older Heroes (I-III), Necromancy was limited to creatures killed HP and number of units, so if you killed mid-high level creatures you would get 1 skeleton per creature at most. Honestly...
PS: I still firmly believe the best Necromancy possible lies in mixing H4 system (you can only revive a small amount of xp units per battle) and H5 (what you can revive depends of what units you killed). It would be much more difficult to snowball, it would reward winning a lot of battles rather than a big one() and it could fatten all your army instead on focusing on one single creature.

it is not all on core units. Try duels there you have 300-400 core and 50-90 elites and elites rock.
If on some map you get more cores, than the map sucks and is unbalanced. That`s what happens when someone who has absolutely no clue of the game makes game and maps..

Now try the same with +1000 Cores. The problem is that a good Necromancer player will amass an astonishing amount of Skeletons and Ghosts due to the way Necromancy works right now.

The map could be balanced in such way so that you are forced to play mostly with core units.
