difficulty/handicap question
Im new too homm 3, awesome game!!! So much better than newer games of heroes!
Was wondering, what effect each has in homm 3 complete with all add ons.
1.I know difficulty affects starting resources of human and ai, the more difficult the less humans start with and more ai start with, what else does it effect?
2.What does handicap do exacly, difference between mild and severe?
3. Some tips regarding infos, when you attack a monster on adventure map can you see the stats of those monsters? Also during battle why can't I see how many monsters I will potentialy kill when I put my attack cursor on them?

1)Nothing else
3a)right click on them you can see approx. the "number" (few, lot, tnos, horde, swarm, legion), but not their stat
3B)Normally you can t.Instal the HD mod for solve the problem.

I believe the difficulty also affects how neutrals act in battle. I find the largest difference in this to be from normal to hard diff.

In my humble opinion, aside from the resources, there isn't much difficulty difference between Hard, Expert and Impossible. It seems the article shared by Salamandre gives the details. Easy and Normal are much lighter.

Then explore it, there are some good maps in that site you can't find in Maps4Heroes anymore, I don't know why.

Well, it does state in the description that on Hard, Expert and Impossible the AI plays the best it can, just that you start with less resources.

EnergyZ - Correct but you'd expect that with names like Expert and Impossible, the stakes should be higher, right?

Behavior differences between Expert and Impossible are easy to observe when you use WoG and a trainer. Place an AI with a given army in some locked place then put one hero with same army at the exit point. With trainer remove creatures from your army one by one and you will see that the attack trigger will be different from one difficulty to another.
