and a cop's job isn't to discipline the unruly; but collect them and put them into cages(if need be), by any means necessary, if he has to. the discipline comes from being incarcerated.

Yes, discipline is the word I'm seeking. A cop's job should be to protect the citizens. Disciplining should be a separate job. One that entails not punishing criminals, put helping them get back into society as productive individuals through therapy and care. Similar, if you will, as helping youth avoid becoming criminals in the first place.

Well to be fair people have right for education which was being violated by that delinquent girl. Ultimately if she followed the rules she wouldn't have had the problem(if she won't abide by the rules why go to the school in the first place!). Using force against somebody who fails to comply with oral instructions and uses violence against the police by punching him is completely responsible for their own actions and the consequences that follow them.

I really wonder how you would classify my upbringing considering as punishments my parents used:
-Spanking
-Pulling from hair
-slaps
-Throwing me outside of the house regardless what I was wearing at the moment and regardless how hot or cold it was outside(roughly from 30 to -30 celcius)
-Washing mouth with soap
-taking away my pocket money

Personally I see nothing wrong with any of these punishments. I never would've had to go through any of them if I followed the rules. It taught me as a child boundaries and rules(and didn't make me violent person). The laws nowadays(some even back then) forbid these things as part of upbringing. Nowadays you can clearly see the fruits of such liberal state of things with youth having little to no respect, no manners and thinking they can do whatever they want. Comparing back to my days, kids were much more obidient, focused and disciplined. Sure we tested our boundaries at times, but we weren't as ignorant as kids these days about consequences. Really it's as simple as follow the rules and you're fine, break them and take accept the possible consequences. Better to have too harsh punishments than to have too lenient ones that will never teach the kids/people about consequences in life.

@ td's last post: exactly. the way i see it, human beings need to learn a whole lot MORE about the consequences of their actions; regarding everything that they do or affect. 1st-world society seems to be trying to give everyone a pass on their irresponsibility, which is particularly troubling.

the kids that are being raised today, are headed for some dark times. if they aren't prepared for them, they'll be chewed up and spat out. they need to understand that:

1. the world isn't safe, OR your own personal playground.

2. with power, knowledge, and understanding, comes responsibility. human beings have all three, but fail to be responsible with any of it. responsibility is of utmost importance, in the continuation of society.

3. for every action there is a reaction. if there are enough negative actions, a sizeable negative reaction WILL occur, no matter what the type. so don't be(or act like you are) surprised when it does.

4. individuals are not special; everyone should work together to achieve a common goal that will benefit the whole. by "everyone working together", i mean literally everyone.

Well you can experience it yourself and tell me. Just pour some liquid soap to your mouth and ask somebody to hold your mouth shut with their hand for some 30s, spit out and repeat a few times.
(Here's what my parents generally used; The soap It's a soap made for washing carpets)

Some sources say he's on unpaid leave, others say he lost his job, others say he's on administrative duty ( meaning he's doing paper work for the same pay lol ). Some say she broke her arm, others say she received a phone during class informing her she just lost her parents I mean wtf can the news stop being scheming snowes and just tell us the facts

edit : and some students claim they aren't surprised to hear of this because he's been slamming a few students here and there. There's no room to swing a fluffy bunny rabbit in.

lol, less than 1 minute into south park's new episode, and i can already tell it's about the incident we've been yammering about it in this thread. this should be good. they're already WAY over the top. funny, how they have to go that far, just to make it a parody of real-life events.

i still think the brat should've been tazed, though.

edit: jesus christ. 6 minutes in, and this episode is pure win. if you haven't seen it already, watch it.

edit x2: oh my god. it just keeps getting better. i'm laughing my nuts off.(sorry for off-topic, cor. don't spank me. instead, watch that episode. snow's hilarious, man)

South park really tries to mock each side equally. But when they portray the citizens inviting Barbrady to shoot some kids, it's suddenly clear that one side's parody is far more accurate than the other. My favorite part was when the local cops stopped working and blamed everybody ( kenny s father, which had nothing to do with the incident ) because of one incident of a cop losing his job. So true hahaha.

@ kayna: it was indeed a great episode. i love the funhouse-mirror-reflection effect. south park may not always nail it, been when it does, it nails it hard.

relevant article; a seperate incident

Quote:
A school police officer in San Antonio, Texas, has been placed on leave after a video posted online showed him slamming a 12-year-old girl to the ground at a middle school, media reported on Wednesday.

The San Antonio Independent School District launched an investigation into the officer's actions, which occurred on March 29 as the officer was breaking up a confrontation between the girl and another student, according to television station KSAT.

The incident comes as police in the United States face greater scrutiny over use of force. Last year, a sheriff's deputy in South Carolina was fired after he was caught on video flipping a high school student out of her classroom chair.

In a video posted online on Tuesday, the San Antonio school police officer is seen holding the student from behind and then spinning around and throwing her to the ground.

Shocked student bystanders can be heard saying "she landed on her face" and "are you OK?" to the girl, while she lies motionless and the officer handcuffs her.

"The video is very concerning," San Antonio Independent School District spokeswoman Leslie Price told KSAT. "We need to find out all the details as to what occurred, but I can also say that we will not tolerate excessive force in this district."

Neither a representative from the San Antonio Independent School District nor the officer, Joshua Kehm, could be reached for comment late on Wednesday.

The video does not reveal what occurred before the school police officer grabbed hold of the girl. KSAT reported that other students told the station the girl had kicked the officer.

Kehm was placed on paid administrative leave after officials late on Tuesday learned of the video of the incident at Rhodes Middle School, according to the San Antonio Express-News.

Gloria Valdez, the mother of the 12-year-old girl, told KSAT that seeing the video left her upset and angry.

"You can actually hear it, her head hits the concrete, and that's what hurt me the most," Valdez told the station. (Reporting by Alex Dobuzinskis in Los Angeles; Editing by Robert Birsel)
