12 years of HC
12 years, 1 month, and 4 days, but who's counting?
Usually in these threads, I highlight some posts I've made over the year, but I haven't been as active, so instead I'll explain why. My primary interest at HC is the OSM (as everyone knows), and while it seems to be more active than last year, my standards for discourse have risen. To put it bluntly, most OSMers are bad at engaging charitably with other people's arguments, misinterpreting each other all the time, and people rarely change their minds, plus there's too much general rudeness - the goal seems to be more to beat down your opponent, rather than convince them. Having seen communities that have better discourse norms than this, arguing here has lost some of it's appeal. Unless I see a change in this, I'll continue to be mostly inactive.
I still check the page every day, so I'm still around if anyone wants to HCM me.

Well, you managed to be more active than many other "old" ones. Props for that.
I registered in Nov. 2005 but I was anything but a regular poster until much later.

Had a brief exchange of words with you one time. Definitely felt like it was worthwhile. Sometimes you just have to choose your battles, you know. Not everyone has the appropriate mindset when entering debates. From my experience, most want to force their arguments and opinions down other people's throats and it's very easy to degenerate into ad hominem, ego wars or cynical rhetoric (probably a flaw of mine too, I fall for provocation sometimes). The line where integrity and rewarding conversation can be found is pretty thin.

i can't tell if i'm getting better or worse in debates(it seems i was both more eloquent in the past, and more caustic). my beliefs are pretty concrete, though. i seem to have reached a point in my life where changing my mind about things is just a waste of time, considering the state of the world. the way i see it, my beliefs are infallible, and a solution to problems, if somewhat skewed at times(my intent, though, is always for the betterment of mankind and the state of the world). the core of what i try to get across is what matters the most to me. if i see a better logic, though, i'll try and assimilate that into my inner workings. i'm always trying to improve, overall. on specific things, not so much. the way i look at it, if i get the bulk right, the specifics can slide. they're mostly immaterial, anyway; and only offspring of the larger picture.

Pretty sure it gotta be more than 5-6 years ago. The one and only time I ever saw Mvass write anything in a heroes related section he turned out to be biggest n00bie I'd ever laid my hands on.

Mvass I don't OSM much. You used to post weird stuff too though. I think we have both calmed down in the past years. I've learned to spell better thanks to spellcheck reminding me as well. But that's besides the point.

I maintain that Dungeon is the weakest town in HoMM 3. It has nothing going for it.

Low level shooters are nice, specially beholder/evil eyes. Mino's! Don't forget Gunnar.
Trogs bad, try Imps. Manticores sucks, so does Wyverns and Cyclops. It's average town, nothing horrible.
