Will HD mod and HotA work with Windows 10?
I keep hearing Windows 10 is the best. So has anyone tested it?
I am running Windows 7 at the moment and everything works perfectly, but if I should upgrade to Windows 10 I wan't HD mod and HotA to work as well, otherwise I will see it as a downgrade.

I am perfectly happy with Windows 7, only thing is if Windows would start up faster, other things might run faster or that new browser Edge is better/faster.
So should I just stick with Windows 7?

If you want the best of both worlds then you should simply dual-boot W7+W10. That's what I do, although I'm actually sticking with running W7+W8.1.
W7 is the best Windows as far as compatibility goes with older games, that's for sure. If W10 is similar to W8.1 then some older games will have issues working correctly or have slow performance because of the fact that true DirectDraw support was stripped out after W7. Although, some of these games has been made playable by community efforts by now.
In W8.1 I can say that HMM3 works fine, but I've noticed that the performance isn't always as smooth. It's likely the same with W10, although that's only a guess.

Hmm think I'll just stick with Windows 7.
I suspected that would be the best anyway.

Windows 10 has a ton a problems. As much as I hate the design of Windows 8 I still would recommend staying at 8.

I haven't played them much, but both installed and worked fine in my W10. I did have to disable the display scaling from the exe compatibility options for them to work properly.
I had some performance issues with ERA+WoG, but none with HotA. But to be sure I'd too stay with W7 for now

I wouldn't recommend using W10. There are plenty of privacy issues that users aren't aware of. If Windows 7 works good for you, I see no reason to change OS, imo.
EDIT:
Yeah, H3 works perfectly with wine (linux).

Note that a number of those have also been patched into Windows 7 under the notion of "critical update". I still have to figure out which ones they are, to skip those on Win 7 Updates from now on. Yeah, I know it's a risk, but I haven't run Windows Update on my home system ever since they introduced that "critical update".

It's not.
@Frosty: Yeah playonlinux uses wine, is just more user friendly.

TBH, I'm not an expert for windows OS. The reason I keep it on my computer is for StarCraft 2. The other games that I play are mainly heroes, and they run very well on Linux
As for those issues that I was talking about, a colleague of mine told me about some of them. He should publish a paper soon about that, and I will certanly read it after that
As for Windows Update, I just disable update service I do not trust Microsoft at all.

Windows 10 is the best, people tell you right.
And older Windows versions will have no security and bugfixes updates, so better freely upgrade to Windows 10, than live with lecacy software full of holes.
If you fear tracking services, you can turn them off like instructions on Net say.

You are trolling, right?
The fact that there is a new version of some software, such as OS, doesn't mean that support for older versions will immidiately stop. Plus, switching to newer version when it just got out is not the best move, as there is going to be a bunch of bugs and issues. In case of windows, you should probably wait for some service packs.
As for tracking services, are you 100% sure that you can turn them all off on (any) windows?
Anyway, sorry for offtopic conversation

Not really.
Quote: Still, whether or not you agree with Belfiore’s standpoint that this doesn’t invade user privacy, it does seem strange that it has taken Microsoft so long to come clean and admit core Windows 10 background data collection processes cannot be stopped. Instead it gave the impression that turning off all user accessible spying options in Windows 10 settings would provide owners with full privacy – that’s tantamount to spying.
Awfully off-topic indeed.

Treshold 2 is out on 12 November.
PS Win7 - support (updates) ended 13 january of 2015.
There is only Win8 wich still has support and free upgrade to Win10.
