Salamandre said: I don't mix oranges with apples. One thing is to be deceived by liberal "democracy" and another is accepting or proposing any authoritarian alternative just because you are bored with political correctness or want a change in your life. Those are not video games which you can save/reload to change outcome.
Is like saying "losing a leg is not that bad, just think about how many books you could read because you can't walk, I like the concept of handicapped", then the guy who really lost a leg is shocked by your claim, then you just say "hey you just express a physical trauma based on your suffering, I still think losing a leg should be a great thing, for a change.".
Well, have a trip in North Korea, stay one year then come back -in one piece if possible- and we discuss.
That doesn't make sense. Fascists and authoritarians in general don't act according to their personal preferences, but rather to what they feel is better for their people and society.
That's a liberal mindset in which everything is dissolved by the individual. I don't think like that.
Stop distorting what I said, lol. It's not about what I like, my point is that people are unsatisfied with liberal democracy and there will always those who prefer stronger regimes and states.
DPRK doesn't apply. Not because of totalitarianism itself, but rather because their ideology - Juche - and traditions are too distant from western patterns for us to establish a comparison.
Uuh... Trump is a fascist all of a sudden? I'm not following the news on that subject, but that's seem like a stretch to me. Was Bush a fascist too?
@Drakon: what you said doesn't make sense. If there's only one flavor to pick from, how can you call it a democracy? Democracy suggests political pluralism. Not to mention, that's one of the reasons why liberal democracy is flawed: it promises, but you don't see it happen. People probably had more diverse ideas under Hitler than under today's "liberated society".
And that's not a compliment to the nazis.

Svartzorn - diverse ideas under Hitler? You are joking, right ?
And I did not say I love the current democracy, but still better than dictatorship, communist or fascist.
And politics as a whole in the ex-Soviet bloc are different from those in the west, different cultures, different economy, different mentalities.
And this.

Am not.
People actually had more diverse ways of thinking under the nazis than they do today. They were suppressed, but still thought differently.
Not to mention, national-socialism itself was a pretty diverse phenomenon. There were discussiong and diversions within the party and the main figures. Hitler and Himmler thought differently, Rosenberg didn't think like Göring and so on.
The Strasser brothers and Niekisch are just two prime examples of dissonant thinking.
These days, however... differences between tow main political parties are merely bureaucratic.

Well one thing I can understand, I would prefer a single party myself, but that would lead to communism again, unless it was carefully structured and moderated.

Well, I'd rather prefer no parties. And, sometimes, would also be in favor of some anarchic society, even though I support totalitarianism for a need of national revival
Coming back to the true topic, I was reading Cioran some other day, and still have like 3 of his books pending:

I want parties, but not political.
I would go for hereditary rule if it wasn't so badly done in places like N. Korea today.
It's good that you can read Cioran. France used to be a great place to live even as a Romanian...
