lax gun-control will lead to people who should not have guns having guns. Even so, I'm mostly blaming culture, not the guns. Heavier restriction on guns would nonetheless help seeing as no other western country gets nearly as many terrorist attacks.
People who should have guns don't want them.

Of course giving the right to own a gun for population is a much outdated right, and now is leading to more deaths than lives saved. But for US is too late, it would be like saying to europeans "from tomorrow, get a bike, cars are prohibited".
We can only nod our heads and see them killing each other. And, fred, of course the state should regularize what a simple citizen can own, in security domains. Because simply people are irresponsible, for one intelligent and knowing the consequences of his acts, you have one thousand completely irresponsible and on the edge of imploding..

I don't think so. The Second Amendment gives you more than just the right to own a gun. It gives you the right to defend yourself and to counter the system if it gets corrupted.

i understand many people are borderline psychotics with their brands of thinking. but i am still absolutely against someone telling law-abiding citizens that they can't protect themselves or their family legally, with the same weapons that criminals have access to(minus class 3 weapons, of course). because you have to fight fire with fire, regarding guns. you can't defend yourself from a gun, with a knife(which are illegal to carry anyway, unless they're more of a danger to a letter in the mail, than they are to people). you can't defend yourself from a gun, with anything OTHER than a gun, realistically. ask any martial artist what they think, as far as defending themselves from a gun. their answer is to run, obviously.
and that doesn't do too well, for people in these mass-killings, now does it? you can't run faster than bullets, sal. but what you CAN do, is fire some back at whoever plans to take your life.
lol, i have no idea why there is a tv icon in my post. i sure didn't click on that snow.

yes and this is why is outdated. Back in time it made sense to arm with a weapon against a weapon. Today, having a gun and dreaming about counter the system if corrupted is laughable; seeing what stuff the army has.

true. but that's why foreign militaries have been being trained on u.s. soil. not that you heard it from me, though.
to be more serious, i think the "take back our government" ship has long since sailed. people are far too occupied, and far too poor to leave their jobs and march on washington. besides, if it ever came to that, the u.s. would be no more anyway.
i've mentioned this before, though: the u.s. government and the u.s. civilian populace are at a stalemate.
now, we're all just going through the motions, but i have a hard time thinking anyone is actually fooling anyone. at least, no more than they WANT to be fooled.

We are in the era of the information. IF you prepare or even dream about a coup d'etat, you are caught the first time you pronounce that word on the phone, then you are reported missing, bye bye.
This is the stuff army has today, the 1 vs 1 time is over. Look at China and North Korea.

See, they know how to keep you in leash.

Mainly, I agree that the right to own a moderate gun and the gun culture in the U.S. are two very different things. And all this talk about being able to protect yourself becomes misplaced when you think like that.
It's true, criminals... well, professional criminals such as in organized crime, mafia, etc can and will always have access to guns, no matter what the law is. But they are hardly the ones killing ordinary citizens, are they, especially not in masses. When you put aside very exceptional situations like a civilian witnessing something extremely well hidden or a case like that poor guy who accidentally hit John Gotti's kid with a car, ordinary citizens don't have to worry about the mob killing them. That would draw unwanted attention to their business and professional criminals avoid shooting innocents, it's just too much heat.
When it comes to the psychopaths, how they channel their psychopathy is directly related to their cultural background. A schizophrenic patient in Europe can get under the delusion that he is being possessed by the Devil, while a person with the same disease here will claim he is being abused by djinns, in the U.S., alien abduction is more popular than anywhere else. It's the same with mass shootings, they are a product of the gun fetish that American tradition and media constantly feed. Just ask yourself this, are there mass shootings in this manner, anywhere else in the world? No. You can find a few examples but not in a regular fashion, and man, it really is regular in the U.S.. This is like the third or fourth thread about such a thing since I've been around and they were all opened right after similar incidents.
Of course, you can not exactly regulate your laws according to what kind of psychopaths your culture produces. But, especially if you're an outsider, it doesn't take too much brain power to see that the gun culture, or craze if yow will, in the United States is very problematic and psychopaths barging in schools, restaurants etc and murdering dozens is not the only issue it results in.

I wasn't trolling. There are dozens of statistics about US quality life level, security, life expectancy, poverty, etc, statistics showing US very low on world nations list. Yet you are okay with more wars funding, more Israel tax payer funding, it amazes me. Here in France, if we find that our taxes go to other country or that we start a war without any reason, the president goes instantly on the guillotine, no kidding.
So clearly they keep you in leash with some bizarre incantations I can't grasp.

i think you forget who you are talking to, and what i believe. i'm not the kind of person you're describing, at all.
and, if the french were so bent on setting things straight, then they would have chopped a head off long ago, due to the influx of muslims that you guys seem to so despise.
