Well, for the symbolic bait to work, of course it had to be presented as a real project. I'm not suggesting it was a poetic metaphor.

Right, I butchered a Dutch saying with an English one . In Dutch, the saying is "twee vliegen in een klap", which literally translates as "two flies in one stroke" or something like that. English of course has the "two birds with one stone". Oh well, I am just progressive in my language abuse!

Nope.
There were 1,824 gang-related killings in 2011.
In comparison, there were 11,101 homicides and 19,766 suicides committed with firearms in 2011.

can i ask you something? what is the point of me starting a statistics battle with you, when you're just going to argue with me anyway? you guys can't even get common sense right on this issue, and now you want me to get into a statistics battle with you? where do you think my stance on this even comes from?
i am done trying to convince any of you of the obvious, because it's clear that you will continually refuse to hear me, and will just keep flaming this thread with nonsense in an ongoing attempt to infuriate me. have fun believing whatever the hell you want. i don't care anymore.

@fred. The topic is extremely relevant right now, and if you get too infuriated by it then don't participate. My posts are not targeting you, even if you are the one getting triggered by them.

Remember how I gave you the example of the Muslim advocating it is common sense covering up women like bee-keepers or men would be aroused all the time, and when asked about the rest of the world, coming up with weird excuses, remember your reaction? It is incredible that you can still convince yourself into thinking that you are the one with common sense and all the rest of us, coming from different cultrues, political opinions, experiences, have the same identical bias against pro-gun arguments. Is it really so incomprehensible for you to consider just once, that living right at the heart of gun culture (Southern U.S.), it may be you who have the bias and what seems sensible to you isnt actually quite so?
When you are confronted with world comparison through scientific data, you say the U.S. is different, when you are confronted with comparison of states of America through scientific data, you say it is just anti-gun propaganda, you tell us to just hear out your fellow citizen Corribus from Chicago, Corribus feels the need to break his silence and tells you he supports tougher regulations, even "Markkur from the Heartlands" stated in this thread in the past, that he supports restriction of semi-automatics and military grade weapons. You by-pass dozens of rational objections of various angles, objections from people who give you the courtesy of explaining their side in detail, you dont even give straighforward replies to them, instead you say things like "it is simple, I can shoot back, it's survival, you deny reality" which is like the most oversimplistic argument anybody can come up with, yet you still see yourself as the torch bearer of truth and common sense. I mean, we get that you are so sure about yourself but it really adds nothing to the thread to repeat how we are all so blind every three posts, it wont make it true or more convincing.
JollyJoker said: Why would SUICIDES count for anything, though?
It wasn't a meta-analysis like the article I linked covers but I've read research showing guns increase suicide rates also, and significantly. So it's not as simple as "one would easily commit suicide by jumping if one wants to." Research shows that in a depressive state of mind, people having suicidal thoughts tend not to act on them or "leave the door half-open" in their attempts much more when there are no guns around. Looks like pulling the trigger has its own psychological charm.

JollyJoker said: What I said is, that Trump touting the idea of walling up a 2.000 mile border in order to stop illegal immigration should have discredited him in the eyes of everyone with more than one brain cell, whether he meant it at the time or not, because the idea is utterly moronic as such, not to mention extremely expensive, AND will not stop illegal immigration, obviously.
Well, OK then. Let him build that wall if is such moronic idea, so then you will have real material to mock and criticize his management, instead of supposing and speculating, because this is what you do. What will be better than throw in his face statistics on how a wall who costed billions is not effective at all, thus he failed on his major electoral promise. This will heavily affect his reelection, he will be done, good for you.
If it doesn't work.
On the other side, if it works and indeed illegals numbers passing by are halved or more... its the other side who will copiously laugh then he will get another mandate. I say go for it and find who is smart.

"triggered" is not the word i would use to describe what you and some others are causing in me.
and obviously you're targeting me, because sal and i are the ONLY ones continually trying to get you people to understand anything here. i've been beating my brain against you guy's self-repeating wall of ignorant defiance for PAGES now. you're just the latest flamer to the party.
i am getting infuriated because you guys are just spamming a thread with massive amounts of ignorance that has NO bearing on the subject matter at hand. and you're doing everything you can to verify your completely-disconnected-from-the-reality-of-what's-going-on beliefs; going so far as to make me continually repeat myself on issues and content i've already covered with every new post you guys make that is NOT EVEN REMOTELY relevant in this issue. WHY you guys continually do so, is quite something to ponder. WHY would anyone argue with something they have no clue about? WHY would they CONTINUE arguing with something they have no clue about? WHY would they CONTINUE arguing when i've already answered everything they have to say ad infinitum, and mostly by using sheer common sense? and you and warmonger want me to get into STATISTICS? i've already been stating the statistics on the issue, but apparently you need me to post some GRAPHS to back LOGIC up? seriously? i mean, what the actual hell?

is it? is it incredible that you all come from completely different cultures that DON'T HAVE THE FREEDOM OF GUN RIGHTS? is it really? i'll stop here. i've already stated that i'm done with you, and you just keep flailing at me like a kid on the playground. your wild arm windmills are laughable, artu. it's embarassing.
understand, that you guys lost this argument nearly as soon as you started. because ya'll completely miss the part where you apply simple logic. instead, you apply your feelings on the matter. and then you have the ignorance to think that that's what I'M doing. ffs, man. the only thing causing any feelings for me on this issue, is the inability of the people who should be protecting people, utterly FAILING to do so; and how you guys want to incessantly argue against LOGIC. i'm not EMOTIONALLY INVESTED in firearms OR the gun culture. i am LOGICALLY invested in it, because it'll keep MY ass from being killed by someone with a gun while UNARMED.

artu said: 1- It is not a tearful story but a regular one. It's how things have always worked in the U.S. And despite your blatantly xenophobic generalizations, most immigrants are quite adaptive and even grateful for the better conditions. You seem to forget that in the U.S., half the people (figure of speech) working in CNN are also immigrants or kids of them. If some of them complain about racism, it is such borderline hateful attitude such as yours that causes the complaint.
What? I was talking about illegal aliens, not about foreigners, immigration, what xenophobic generalizations I did? How is xenophobic to ask that people who fraud the law be treated as such and stop plucking the honest people in favor of those who can't respect the rules?
artu said: 2- We didn't start bashing Trump, Kip brought him up, I shared some info regarding his statements about mass shootings, then you started to defend him uncoditionally as usual because even if you claim you are disappointed, he is your anti-immigration hero after all, and at this point, it is easy to see you are obssessed with immigration in a very unhealthy manner. Hence, it was once again you who shifted the subject not from shootings to Trump but from Trump to immigration.
You came up with the statement "almost all people" think Trump is a disaster. Which is a blatant lie - if it was true, he would have been pushed out long time ago, it also proves you read bad and biased press only, that you didn't do any effort to analyze why Trump got there in first place and why he will probably stay for a while, and it is not such conformist, pretentious and dull talks as yours who will convince people they picked wrong, for sure.

No, we have gun rights, we dont have them to a crazy extent and we dont have the gun culture. Which is the desired outcome here, not a misfortune.
You keep ranting every three posts, deny scientific research and then try to reverse the situation by calling the other side emotional. It holds no water at all and it's simply distortion. Everybody here is perfectly calm except you.
@Sal
1- "Watch CNN and see those mongoloid aliens spitting on America, yelling how racist is and how it oppressed them and how it OWES them amnesty. " This is a xenophobic generalization, using mongoloid with such pejorative connotation is actually beyond xenophobic but we go back a long way so I'll just leave it at that. And the point of my prior example was that the line between legal and illegal immigrants had always been fuzzy in the U.S.
2- I already replied to this with even unnecessary elaboration. I wont go in circles.

turkey has gun rights? care to elaborate?
and, maybe if YOU were on the other end of this argument and were being repeatedly refuted and attacked by a group of people, with post after post of someone denying the logic in the other's argument and who have NO INTENT to listen whatsoever to someone who LIVES in the area this stuff is happening, you wouldn't be so calm. obviously. i feel like a dude arguing with kids that are telling me the sky ISN'T blue, or grass isn't green, etc.
