Looks good imo. Better than 4 anyways. HD Remix is only right SF for me tough. I have 4 but I never play that, classics still the best.
Btw use button below B (bold button) for links

What is so special about it? To me, it looks just like another one in the series. And before you bash me, let me tell you that I've always been a fan of combat games (Mortal Kombat series is still one of my favorite game series, along with Heroes, and.... Bomberman
But still, unlike MK (where they make the fatalities even more gruesome than in the previous versions) in SF there is no place for improvements. I think they've added Super Combo, and Ultra Combo (or something along the lines) starting with SF 3, but other than this, nothing special about the game, even if I will still download it at some point in time, just because I'm a fan of the type.
What I'd really like to try though is Tekken (I heard many good things about the game, but never played it even once)
And also, there was another game in the genre some many years ago (when I was a kid more specifically, so, about... I don't know... 20-25 years ago??) that impressed me a lot at that time. I don't remember much of it (it was in an age where sango fighters, and super fight were popular on PCs) that I'd like to know if it still exists, so I can download it (eventually buy it from somewhere). All I remember about that game is that the scenarios were just a glass 3D cube. I'm not sure if the game was 3D, but at that time it looked like 3D. Even if it wasn't 3D it looked freakin' real, and I remember I could barely play it (sometimes with crashes) on my (at that time) very powerful rig.
So yeah, if anyone knows which game I'm talking about please tell me cause I'd like to re-play it (if it still works on today's modern rigs) in memory of good old times

It's ok. You can bash Street Fighter. Street Fighter ranks no 4 on my list now, after Marvel vs Capcom, Blazblue and Soul Calibur. As you say, street fighter tries too hard to keep balance and other games actually offers more in many ways.
But Tekken? Seriously? oh my god. I'm adding you to my ignore list right now!

@monere: I doubt it was 3D if it where over 20 years ago. Only good fighting game on Pc was One Must Fall 2097 also know as OMF. It's robot fighting but don't let that fool you, it's actually really good game whit Street Fighter elements!
Omf is from 1999 and it's freeware nowdays. There is fan made OpenOmf what can run at windows as the original is good-ol Dos game.
Here is a video of Omf gameplay.

Yeah, it might not have been 3D but I'm telling you that for its time that game was like this year's kingsmen movie. The best underrated movie of the year. The same with that game (I am so pissed that I can't remember its name). It was really amazing... the graphics, the gameplay, the effects, everything about it was just top notch at that time. It might be "super fight", or "super street fighter", or something along these lines (although it had no characters from street fighter, so I doubt that it was anything related to Street Fighter). Oh well... I'll keep searching until I get a clue.
Meanwhile (and since you mentioned OMF) here's something similar, but which IMO is way better than OMF. I have this game on my PC and I still play it occasionally (actually, I'll just play it right now ), cause it's too much fun.
Cyberbots Fullmetal Madness
Just forward to minute 2 or 3 in the video to go right to the battles. The guy playing that game probably has cheats enabled cause his robot takes no damage, but that's not the point. Just watch the gameplay and see how amazing the entire game looks for a 95 game. Gameplay-wise, it's comparable to Street Fighter 3 cause it has the same super combo, and ultra combo (and they're freakin awesome and unique for each robot), and the game is still challenging today like it was in 1995. Just take a look at it, and if you get the chance to play it I'm sure you'll waste many hours playing it

I still have fond memories of playing the original SFII on amiga back in the 90's. I liked the simplicity of the original version; but come the Super and Alpha and what-not versions I found there came too many characters and too many super-combos and stuff like that for me to really enjoy the game.

To each their own I guess, cause for me these combos are a nice addition to every combat game, especially when you think how little strategy they involve. You practically just have to know the combos and be quicker than your opponent to win. But... to each their own
Also, since you don't like many chars and combos I dare say that you're not a MK fan Right?
And last but not least, anybody still remembering this game?
WWF Wrestlemania
This game cracks me up whenever I play it (doink, yokozuma, and razor ramon are funny as hell), and to my disappointment I only finished the game with Undertaker on the highest difficulty level. With all others (well, I admit that I never played Shawn Michaels cause I don't like that guy) I get really close but they butcher me too fast the faster I get closer to the end of the game.
Still, this, along with Cyberbots (posted the link in the previous post) are one of my all-time favorite combat games.
Too bad they don't make such funny and challenging games like these

I prefer Ryu to Ken if anything, but even so, those aren't my favorites. I usually like Chun Li and M Bison, Honda, too and... well, I don't remember all chars of all SF versions, but I usually play these 3.
I didn't know this version of SF indeed, but it looks nice. It is so clean, and gives a feeling of old. Brings back memories you know...
EDIT: not sure that WWF was DOS game (was it??), but if it was then it has even more reasons to be still appreciated. I mean, just look what good graphics it has.
