Lemmy is dead
An *aggressive form of cancer* kills him almost overnight. I'm no less surprised than everybody else, this man looked like he will rock the **** of this world for at least 10 more years. Now I'm feeling like the day when Dio departed - a loss of someone who was an institution in rock, a living incarnation of energy, irreplaceable by any means, almost a personal loss. The legacy is immortal.

This was the first thing to show up on my FB feed today. Needless to say I felt like being slapped in the face with a wet cloth.
His name is Lemmy, He played rock'n'roll.

I wasn't in a good mood to begin with, and this just...well, words are useless now.
His music lives on, may Lemmy rest in peace.

Mr. Kilmister was an agnostic - at least that's what he said himself - and wrote a couple of very, umm, critical songs about religion/god, for example God was never on your side,
so I'm not sure whether he'd want to be kept in someone's prayers.

Is an empty formula, used mainly in America, a bit like RIP. Which is mainly used on Christian tombs too, so finally you both had the same approach.

I found "Don't Let Daddy Kiss me" to be a lot stronger in that topic than "God Was Never On Your Side".
I think we should celebrate who Lemmy was instead of praying for him.

saw the news about lemmy before i went to sleep last night. i thought he had died a while ago; like many other famous people who die and end up in the news. i didn't know the article i saw was new news; i thought it was merely a tribute.

I think, Don't Let Daddy Kiss Me is more subtle on the God part, than the example I gave, and I just wanted to give an example, not the strongest.
I agree, though, that Daddy is one of the songs with really fracking strong lyrics, no matter what.
But I obviously fully agree on the second part of your post

I don't recall asking you anything, so you might just want to shut your piehole.
Furthermore, I knew what Lemmy's position on this subject was, and listened to enough of his work to know his criticism. That's not a reason to keep him out of my prayers, which I have done and will do again.

This year's total loss hit me hard. And I think Lemmy would approve if I add a few more bands that lost members in 2015.
Free, Crosby Still Nash & Young, Yes, Molly Hatchet, Thin Lizzy, Beatles, Spenser Davis Group, Brownsville Station and Three Dog Night to name some of many, many groups.
We also lost BB King, Ben E. King, Leslie Gore, Jim McCann of the Dubliners and several more covering the entire spectrum of music style.
In addition, with the LotR's cast alone we lost Andrew Lesnie that Made those movies with his awesome camera-work, Nancy B? Special Effects and the voice of Alan Howard that did the 'voice of the ring.'
Omar Sharif, Patrick McNee and Maureen O' Hara are 3 actors that all hit me hard even though they had lived long lives.
Be good to your loved ones folks, the race ends rather quickly, no matter the years.
