Editing main menu in H4 Equilibris
Hello everybody. I just tried to convert that new H4 map from Ubi into a new menu, but i have a problem. After making a .h4r file and putting it into Data folder, Main Menu becomes black. I am using Equilibris 3.51. Programs that I used: GIMP (editing graphics), mh4 (making a .h4r file). I heard that menu graphics must be in RAW format with right color palette, but what program should I use for this action? Anybody can help me?

Do three ecrans named like in game but in bmp at end.
Open Resedit2 build new.h3r on new_mod.h3r for Equilibris.
Open new file. Open modding menu. Throw in your 3 ecrans. Build.
Its not perfect file but work. Its easiest way.

When I try to compile the file i gent an error: "Cannot open the file". What should I do?

Close Residt2 and open new.h4r.
1. Open Resedit2.
2. Build new.h4r file.
3. CLOSE RESEDIT2.
4. OPEN NEW.H4R FILE WITH RESEDIT2!
And then import you menus and save in new file.

I will write it in CH. Its easiest way but not perfectly. There are another metods but most complicated. Only Resedit2 can convert bmp to raw in simple way.

Another question: how to compile both menu images and menu music into one (new.h4r or new_mod.h4r) file? Resedit2 does not see music files and when I try to do the trick with compiling images with Resedit2 and then extrackting them with mh4 there are no images in the destination folder.
Also: It is possible to edit strings.text.txt file? Every time when I change at least one byte in it the game fails to launch.

You can edit txt files and pack it and music. Its perfect h4r file like orginal.
Then you add menu with Resedit2. File is wrong but works.
Its simplest way. Other are complicated.

Baronus, I know that. Even my mh4 and textedit are from your link, which you posted some time ago. The thing is that strings.text.txt file after any change (even one letter) and then packing into resource makes launching game impossible.
Note: When I pack this file without any changes made, the game works fine.

Can resedit 2 convert .bmp files into .raw files for heroes as said here? If so, which are the exact steps for that?
I don't know what an "ecran" is : P
So far my attempts at getting my custom Greatest Mod screen to display have failed (resedit doesn't compress raw files into my full .h4r, always gives error)

Yes Resedit can conwert .
You must have correctly size and named bmp. And add to h4r fille. Thats all.
But ist not 100% correctly h4r file. Resedit is not perfect as Mh4096.

my guess is Baronus means Screen (ecran), judging by the 3 different sizes needed.

Hello, it's me again. After some time I came back to modding H4 and I totally forgot how to put new main menus into .h4r file. I tried methods posted by Baronus but they are not working sadly. I always get "cannot open file" message.
Here are the files I need to pack together. If anyone will help (give advice or pack for me) I will greatly appreciate that. They are mostly Polish translations to Equilibris files and custom main menu.

You must close Resedit2 after creating new file and open new file.
Another way:
1. Download Irfanviev with pluggins and install.
2. Create 3 bmps named like menu.
3. Convert to raw using Irfan.
4. Ad to new or new_mod if ts Equilibris using Mh4096.
Thanks for polish translation! Its very needed. None give it.

Which options did you use when converting images into RAW in Ifranview? All I got are black screens.

In Irfan I cant viev too. Its only to convert.
1. Open bmp you made.
2. Save as ... change RAW or convert to ... RAW.
3. If not select RGB --->BGR.
4. Add using mh4.096.
To do it correct extract using mh4.096 old menu and use the same equi to import new one. Rename equi to new. And build new.h4r. All who want mod must train.
Very good translation. I see only not translated class eg. Archer. Maby its in hero table class? Its the same like original. Equlibris dont mod it so just remove.

If I recall correctly hero classes and other stuff are in the table.interface.txt or strings.text.txt which are not yet translated. Table.heroes.txt contains mostly hero biographies and some minor stuff. It is included in the translation to fix the graphical bug in The Gathering Storm (Alita, Kozuss and Bohb does not have unique models).
