*sigh*

Every couple of years someone "discover" these old beta stuff... again and again. I am sure there is already topic about them on Heroes Community but for these, who weren't here years ago some more (old and known) pictures:

The second screenshot is from the promo video. The video is available.
The third one, as far as I know, is from a fan project.

It looks quite different from the game we all know. Wasn't that a lot of trouble to redesign the user interface and the townscreens from beta to gamma?

The only known available beta version derives from H1, it was widely discussed here:

http://www.betaarchive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=24000

There are collected regular H1-3 demos (and official trailers) on the second page together with this specific beta of H1.

I was also looking for an admin of Dungeon's Keeper website some time ago, but I was unlucky. According to this page his mail was overlord@netvision.net.il back then:

Maybe somebody has better scouting skills than me

Breaking News!! =)
The game should be in stores today or tomorrow!! So get ready to it, and prepare a cool 50$. And since we will be playing H3 for a long time, we are taking a small break. We won't update the web site for us only

You didn't even think for how long

Quote:
The way to welcome the game to your home - tips.
1. Get up in the morning, and turn on (not in that sense) your computer...
2. Delete all unnecessary games/programs and all that crap.
3. Create a special room in your start menu, specially for HoMM III, along with HoMM II. it is recommended to create a HoMM menu for the games you have. and that will be the place where you will place the new one (hehehe!!!)
4. On your desktop, where you have all of those icons... make room for the new one!!!
5. A specially HoMM III wallpaper will be made for your windows background!
6. Nurture your computer!
a. Double click on my computer, then right click on the hd you are going to install HoMM III. then scan for errors.
b. Still in my computer menu, in the same hd you will install HoMM III, click on the fastening button. no matter how many %, click on start.
*You should also scan for viruses , if you want to.

@ avonu: i figured the homm3 beta stuff was spread around here during the years. i wanted to consolidate everything after i found the screens by accident(you can find them in the link that uhm posted, on the second page). makes sense to, anyway; as a thread covering everything homm3 beta didn't exist. at least, not with any reliable links(looking at you, alex. posting links to content that no longer exists isn't very productive. you might as well work for google or something).

That green, flying skull was it supposed to be there instead of Dragonflies or Gorgons?
If it was I appreciate Dragonflies or Gorgons even more, cause it does'nt fit in at all, on Necropolis maybe, but not Fortress.

No one knows for sure what was this unit, what was its name (it wass nicknamed Banshee by fans) and why was it removed (to scary?).

Anyway, one more - look at Rampart, which you can find on H3:RoE back cover:

BTW Look who was H3 publisher in Europe during those times.

Are you kidding us - or did they really did try to release it for Playstation? Sounds like a very interesting idea.

But - why is the Ubisoft site's link on that image? What did they have with Heroes III, at that time?

Yes. But wasn't 3DO the publisher of the game? I don't understand this one bit.

It certainly doesn't seem 3DO and Ubisoft could've published the same game - at the same time - working together. Right?

As far as I understand:
Ubisoft was regional publisher - in Europe.
3DO was global publisher who could sell rights to publish Might and Magic franchise in different world regions. Ubisoft (or rather Ubi Soft) bought license from 3DO to sell its games.

I have some screenshots whiñh were 'displayed exclusively at Gamepacks.com'. But they are too similar to what we can see in 1.0 version to be of any interest. Yet it's clear that some game reviewers had access to one of the beta versions.

the image came from an ubisoft site, man. it's a watermark.

lol, just saw the other ubisoft stickers. that was put there post-production. it's just ubisoft smearing their logo feces on whatever used to be 3do/nwc's.

I don't think so. It is standard practice to add your own logo to box or map (or even in-game).
After all you are a publisher in your country and you paid for rights to do that.
