How is Heroes 7 for a long time, 30+ years old fan of HoM&M 2/3 ?
Ok guys, old school player here.
So after reading a lot of reviews (mostly negative, some people saying it's the worst Heroes game yet), watching WTF is Heroes 7 from TotalBiscuit and just trying the demo out, I can't decide if the game is worth money.
Heroes VI had a terribad launch, Black Hole was really a terrible developer, but Virtuos somehow managed to improve HVI a lot, finally being an ok game and an average HoM&M.
I'm a fan of Heroes 2 & 3, didn't enjoy 4 / 5 / 6 that much.
Recommended / Not? Just wanted to know, the game is 15€ during steam summer sales.
Thanks!

I wouldn't recommend it, the game is slugish, there are loading screens before every battle, it may crash and from a tactical standpoint it lacks depth IMO. Maybe wait for the expansion, they may fix something, but I am quite skeptical.

You'll probably find the game more frustrating than anything tbh. I'd say if it's really cheap then pick it up cause the anti-ashan mod sounds awesome. its a lot close to the classic games than heroes 6, but that isn't saying much. Gameplay wise h2&3 are better, but if you want to play a heroes game with updated graphics then that's about the only thing h7 has going for it atm.

Heroes VI might be the most different Heroes yet, it was a decent experience. The graphics, animation, music, and game design had its charm to be honest.

I agree. I play h7 with my roommate a lot on his tv and it looks nice. Atmosphere and music are done well. I didn't like the over simplifying features of h6 like town conversion so this one is much better for me. The skill wheel makes this one quite different from usual h2,3,5 games.

Well, you only need to read a few reviews on Steam if you really care other's opinions.
Anyway this series can only earn money from returning customers, it is safe to say anyone bought this game on steam is 99% long time fan like yourself.

It's poorly done and takes forever to load. It also recycled models and heroes from H6 heavily (whether thats good or bad its up to you, i dont think H6 models were bad in first place so idc). AI is also not good apparently (im just here for the elves and medusa). I had fun with it for a while but most annoying thing were loadscreens. I'd give it a try when it gets on a sale

From my personal experience it has been horrible, the game is like a failed imitation that doesn't lives up to its expectations, is awfully optimized and game design makes no sense.
I didn't try the expansion but from what I'm reading it doesn't seem to have improved much.

Agree. A cuckold would be a better example. Your wife is having nasty kinky sex with the local drug dealer who you only know as Erwan "Le Dragon Ballz" Ashanal. You hear her screaming in the cellar and you try to have fun with yourself to compensate for it. But it just doesn't want to come off.
Cuckolds of Might and Magic 7.

Still the wife image for me. You loved her for many things, then 30 years later all you see pouring is tons of make up, she is now in 3D, she is slow to start, she costs you a lot and only single people enjoy talk about her.
Of course, there are happy consumed marriages elsewhere, AOW or CIV are the fortunate examples.
