TV sucks...
Get your own camera, own cast, do footage, publish on YouTube...

You don't get paid in advance for these kind of jobs. You write, you write, you write some more, you take legal steps so you are officially the write of said script, then you try to sell it to people in the movie industry.
It's like being paid every 3 years instead of every week.

I think most people in the business would say the same thing:
1. Move to a place that TV shows are being made and start making contacts. "press the flesh". Go to parties and start talking about your ideas with other people in the business.
2. Continually hone your idea pitching skills and scriptwriting skills. You probably are never as good as you think you are.
3. Write, write, write. Then keep writing. If somebody doesn't like your idea but you have their ear for a minute you should be able to pitch two other ideas on the spot.
4. Don't be afraid to take crap jobs. Only the very lucky few get to be successful without climbing the long ladder of paying dues.

Try to contact the produsers, ask who operates on selecting the screen writers. Best is to go by if possible. Have something to show, not too eager but not too sloppy either. Knock some doors and knock again new ones, hopefully some door will open. To contact the right persons is the key to everything, next is you.
