What's your favorite RMG settings and template?
I'm curious about what settings and with what templates people like to play. If you answer please include how you are playing as singleplayer, co-op and competitive multiplayer games are all quite different.
Bonus question: What bugs/anomalies that appear in randomly generated maps annoy you the most?

I like tough maps singleplayer... lots of strong monsters, artifacts and dragon buildings.

I'm more up for singleplayer maps, don't like too much artifacts however, it's anoying having too much of them in the backpack.
One annoying anomaly is being able to reach an artefact without fighting the monster that should be protecting it.

Is there anyone around who knows anything about templates? Where to find them, how to make them, what the range values allow for, etc.
I've been playing some HotA Huge and I'm bored of the templates I have. I was looking for something like a mix of Frozen Dragons and Jebus, with a central area full of Cliffs but allowing for several players.
I just finnished a game in Frozen Dragons. That template is really for multiplayer, it's a trill until you do a certain battle and you can quit immedialy after cause nothing else will have any interess. But I loved the treasure area, it was the best I ever found, many power dwellings, not that many banks from where to get the money to hire, it's ideal against a buffed AI with a much greather income.

The easiest way to mod the is to copy the .txt files content into an excel sheet. If you create a new folder into templatesyour folder then the game will recognize.

Yes, everything. I made new random map generator after all

Thx, I got Frozen Dragons from ToH and I alreadt had that address but the other one is gold.
But do you have any documentation about the values? I know certain values give certain objects and I want the treasure areas to have some topes (few) and a lot of high level dwellings (mainly Frozen Cliffs) and I believe I could make this happen with some changes to 8XM8 Huge.

I think there's no certain values. Random is random, certain values are custom maps

Don't show such ignorance, the range of values is what determines what will be placed within a certain area. What I don't know is the value of each object, so I can arranje an area to allow this site and not that.

The values are here (in russian). Or in VCMI config files
The value of Utopia is 10000. The value of Frozen Cliffs in 78000 and it can spawn only in neutral areas. Apart from that, random is random. Any object with suitable value is able to spawn. Some more details here.

This template: Crazy 2.
I also like playing 8xm8 with 1-2 minute timer and no rules, because it's relaxing.
Most annoying bug must be creatures blocking paths they are not supposed to block. Like the relic guard that is blocking your only way out of starting area.

I just created a map and it has more then 48 towns. As far as I know this shouldn't be possible and in fact the game always crashes in AI's turn and becomes impossible to continue.

Yes, 48 towns is a hard cap for the game.
Even though the mapeditor may be tweaked to place more than that you would need to tell the game how to handle more and that's probably a lot of work

@batoonike Did you ever managed to finnish a game with a Huge map, against AI, with Crazy 2 template? All maps I generated have a lot more then 48 towns and the two times I tried they crash as soon as AI starts getting towns. Maybe is something else but I'm betting on this.

Yes, I have finished more than 20 games with xxl patch, biggest map size with underground and max number of players. There have been some crashes. Reducing number of towns in areas should fix that surely.
The template has been updated to severely reduce the risk of getting too many towns. The link is same: Crazy 2 topic

RMG template without monolith/portal
Hi.
First, sorry for my bad english.
I would like to find the best rmg template for me.
The first condition is that there are no monolith/portal!
There is a template on which there are no portals? Or someone can help me to make a template without this? That would be the best. Edit an existing template, so as not to create a portal.
Usually 2 or 8 players designed templates I used to play. So should a similar template for transformation. (Nostalgia (XXL), Hota Nostalgia, Spider, Balance?)
Please, help me.
