How is multiplayer and simultaneous turns in Trial by Fire?
There are rumors, that Multiplayer is mostly fixed (regarding desyncs, major issues, game breaking bugs) in "Trial by Fire", compared to the vanilla game. Can anyone confirm this?
Then I got a question about "Simultaneous Turns". Imagine 3 human allies play against 3 AI opponents on a skirmish map. Now the questions is, how do simultaneous turns work out in there (especially in "Trial by Fire", since Steam comments claim multiplayer is more polished than in the vanilla game). It can only be one of the following 3 options, but which one is it?
A) Everyone (humans and AI) can do a certain amount of action at the same time and afterwards there is a global switch to the next day (this is how it works in Age of Wonders III).
B) In HOMM5 the simultaneous turns was only between human players, while the AI played in sequence. Unfortunately simultaneous turns were automatically switched off(!) once players got close to each other on the map. After that it was sequential play for the rest of the game (basically useless simultaneous turns)
C) The same as above, with the only exception that the simultaneous turns remain alive: simultaneous turns between human players, and AI will act in sequence - though simultaneous turns between human players stay alive for the whole game.

i would suggest u to try it out, MP still can break bc of out of syncs, but if u Play a small map with less Players, the % for it will be lower probably, i woudnt Play bigger maps because These will more likely break i guess, sim turns work like every Player Acts at the same time, not sure about AI

If I could try it myself, I would. Unfortunately I can't. My computer is too weak to play it right now, but I have planned to buy a new one in the next few months. It already struggled heavily on small maps in the beta 1 year ago. After that I read all these negative reviews of the release version, and hesitated to buy the game. Now some comments in Steam say, that "Trial by Fire" has more polished multiplayer than the vanilla game. Therefore my HOMM-vibes rise again...
The simultaneous turns are important, because I recall game sessions taking more than 2 days in HOMM5 because of sequential turns, so I'd be glad to know how elaborated simultaneous turns really are.

It is C. I guess? Like in HOMM5 the simultaneous turns are only between human players, while the AI playing in sequence. But unlike H5, when players got close to each other on the map, simultaneous turn continue.
But there are still minor bugs and occasional desync issues. Mostly fixable with loading previos savegame as soon as possible after desync occurred.

Ah! Thanks, yes, that would be (C). A good compromise, which will save a lot of time (since it's mostly human players who take their time, unlike automated AI actions). Not bad, now I can put this game on my buying list.
Regarding desync... yeah, sounds ok if it can be overcome by regularly saving and reloading.

one thing to do is to reload autosaves rather than playersaves-I've found autosaves to be much more stable

One change that was made to this version, players can continue to play their turn during each other players battles.
Much improved.
