The first one is nice. But then again, I kinda like plants and trees. The one thing I am wondering, though ... trees need roots that are about the size of their crowns. I realise those images are just concept sketches, but I see preciously little room for their roots. Roots aren't only needed to supply the tree with food and water, but also to hook it firmly into the soil they're standing in, to prevent toppling over in hard wind conditions.
Furthermore, leaves that fall in autumn and all (unless you use evergreens, of course) will fall down along the entire height of the column, making for a huge pile at the base of each building.

artu said: Ok, this is not from where I live, it's the Kansas City Library, but it just had to be here. You can say the idea isn't very creative, even a shallow cliche but it still looks so lovely anyway.
Man, I thought you were trolling. I've got to get out more often. I've not been to so many places in long years that I once knew like the back of my hand. At one time or another I pretty much lived everywhere in the sprawling city on both sides of the state-line. We have a street named State-Line.
For tamed fun; As far back as I can remember, KCMO has always been termed a "Cowtown" by people living on both "snobby" Coasts, because of both "The American Royal" and also KC's longtime railroad-hub and its Stockyards. This lead to the "Kansas City Steak" and more recently <imo> the very popular "Original" KC Masterpiece BBQ-sauce. Of course the city was also famous for Blues and Jazz back in the day.
Anyway Artu, Do you like really like the look of the Library, or think it only interesting and unusual?
I like it at first glance but then I'm wary of where such ideas may lead and to what other purpose.
Although I must say it needs a "water-tower" on the horizon behind that looks like a Martini-glass.<LOL> A new tower half-completed, with its Stem sitting in only the lower half of the bowl, creates exactly that image at dusk. I saw that at "Liberty" a suburb of KC. Which as I am sure all Turkey knows is where the first bank-robbery happened in the USA.
Sorry if I was off-topic but I thought the background flavor might add more than detract.

Shame they don't make castles anymore, they look gorgeous. And villas are too mainstream today.

My country is not that old, so things such as castles, citadels and akin to that are not present. Historical buildings are often at coastal cities, but most of those weren't built for purposes such as those which Castles and Palaces had. But from old to modern, there are some nice pieces scattered. Most pieces are like this one, as they call neoclassic.
There's the Basílica de Nossa Senhora Aparecida, the biggest catholic cathedral here.
Another known religious building is located at my hometown, which is also Brazil's capital: Brasília. This is Brasília Cathedral, also catholic.
For information, Brasília was built around 1960s, projected and shaped like an airplane.
It has many buildings from the known architect Oscar Niemeyer.
This is a museum with his name:
A bridge built later on, I think it was around 2003.
This is where politicias make a mess of this country.
Jardim Botânico, at Curitiba.
This is one of the buildings in the town I live, Florianópolis:
This is one from a city 200 kms from here, Blumenau:
The thing about this building in Blumenau is that these 'common' European architecture buildings are not common here. Some cities have very expressive architecture signatures. Here at South, it's very notable the number of buildings which resemble their original countries buildings.
