I said h3 was taken as a basis, I didn't say h3 has been replicated.

Despite the differences here and there, you can't be saying there is little influence of h3 in h5's gameplay as a whole. The games that REALLY broke with the tradition were the less popular ones. Most likely major modding scene would be on h5 instead of h3 if it didn't contain the other issues I mentioned.

Then maybe the lack of popularity is due to the lack of adaptability to further players' interventions, like modding... etc.?

bingo lol

build a sufficiently open sandbox like Civilization does and suddenly none of this is even a discussion, we're all too busy modding and playing lol

Maybe. What keeps H3 going on this scale is the editor and the user friendly modding capabilities. The board game mentality of a 2D adventure map is much easier and fun when it comes to producing your own content. When I make H3 maps, I enjoy it as if I'm painting, tried H5 editor a few times, put aside the inefficiency and bugs, it's nowhere near fun. But maybe it wouldn't feel that way had it been better implemented.

1. AI at least at the level of H3
2. A fast game
3. Different strategies for different castles and hexagons for the battle
(anybody with minimum knowledge of math understands why hexagons)
4. Map editor and RMG
5. Nice and "clean" graphics (King's Bounty were decent) ---

H5, despite some interesting features, is a broken game. UBI should prove that
they are able to complete a game before starting new ones --- in my opinion, they completely lost the credibility. If they are smart (that I really doubt), they should start with H4. I bet that this erwin guy has a very low IQ that's why he doesn't get well with people from the community who have interesting ideas or with Quantomas who at least can provide a decent AI. Stupid people = stupid decisions = H6-H7

About the long discussion here about new ideas, I guess nobody is against that if it's implemented correctly. But before anything else, I want my 1-5 points above if they want me to pay for the game. Otherwise….

I don´t want to go point by point, but most of the points are really bad imo and unimportant. Diversity? HAVE DIFFERENT Graphics for the same building? I hate that there are different graphics for the same building,

Squares are better than hexes imo

Also sufficient number of resources types. One of the most annoying aspects of heroes has been the nonsencial amount of resources.. why 7 resources? I have no idea, no game designer should have let that pass. Heroes 6 designer had the right idea when it came to cut the resources.

Late heroes (5+) only failed in a very key point imo. Graphics, those games are unbereablet to play, you can´t have this Zoomed in, 3d sight in a strategy game.
But a lot of the game design decisions of those games are great.

Clearly there are some decent game designers on those teams that had the unfortunate luck of be working for ubisoft which im sure in the one that pressure to have those horrible graphics in the game, which basically kill heroes.

I´m all for improving heroes, heroes5+ had proper 2d eagle eye vision wich clearl contrasted graphics and easy to visualize maps, and withi less horrible bugs. would have been great.

Honestly, he's preaching to the choir. It is very well known that H3's editor is far more easily accessible and user friendly than H5's and no one denies it.
