Vote your creatures (just for fun)
Hey guys, welcome to...something little.
Yeah, may sound strange but it is so and I had this idea for quite a while. It is basically nothing else but the possibility, to choose your creatures from the three Line-Ups from Sylvan and Dungeon.
I know, it is far too late for this, game is done and all but come on, why not? Just something little for fun.
I remember well, that many of you wanted to vote creatures directly. And if I am not mistaken, this came up a few times after this as well.
Just the creatures, nothing else. Otherwise I would have to put Sea Elf Pirate in there as well. Brings me to a point I do absolutely not understand: Giving us the Line-Ups they did and the story they did and not adding Sea Elf Pirate as a faction unit!!!!!
Did they make the story only after the vote? But, that is not the point here. So, lets go straight down to the first faction.
Only the units, who were already in the 3 choices back then.
SYLVAN
CORE
Hunter/Master Hunter: ranged damage dealer with double attack
Root snake/Root python: super-fast saboteur with poison damage and entangling ability
Dryad/Oak dryad: supporting creature working in synergy with the Treant to heal it
Pixie/Sprite: small damage dealer negating enemy retaliation
ELITE
Druid/Elder Druid: saboteur and ranged damage dealer with entangling abilities
Silver Unicorn/Golden Unicorn: antimagic support unit
Emerald warrior/Emerald knight: strike and retribution damage dealer
Treant/Ancient treant: tough and resistant creature with entangling abilities
Blade dancer: multiple targeting damage dealer
Moon Doe/Sun Deer: fast damage dealer with supporting abilities
CHAMPION
Green dragon/Emerald dragon: tough damage dealer with average move range and area of effect damage
Treant/Ancient treant: tough and resistant creature with entangling abilities and dryad protection ability
Phoenix/Greater Phoenix: flying and hard-to-kill creature with self-resurrection ability and supporting abilities
DUNGEON
CORE
Assassin/Shade: melee walker with backstab ability. Damage dealer.
Shadow Lurker/Shadow Watcher: ranged attack flier with debuff abilities. Saboteur.
Skirmisher/Darkblade: melee walker with strike and return ability and no retaliation. Damage dealer.
Troglodyte/Chthonian: Earth spirit, immune to blind and with burrowing movement ability. Tank.
Stalker/Tracker: walker with ranged attack and piercing shot ability. Damage dealer.
ELITE
Minotaur/Minotaur Guard: melee walker with preemptive strike and no retaliation. Damage dealer.
Shadow Unicorn/Nightmare: teleporter with debuff aura. Saboteur.
Faceless/Faceless Assassin: teleporter with strike and return ability. Damage dealer.
Strider/Soulless: walker, shadowsteel construct with debuff abilities. Saboteur.
Medusa/Medusa Sorceress: walker with ranged attack and mesmerizing ability. Saboteur.
Manticore/Scorpicore: flier with poison debuff. Saboteur.
CHAMPION
Shadow Dragon/Black Dragon: flier with area of damage and debuff abilities. Saboteur.
Cave Hydra/Dark Hydra: walker with no flanks and life drain ability. Tank.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since I started this anyway, I show you my personal choice:
SYLVAN:
Pixie
Root Snake
Hunter
Druid
Emerald Warrior
Treant
Green Dragon
Phoenix
Root Snake and Treant out there, working with their entangling ability at melee combat. Pixie and Emerald Warrior making use of “no enemy retaliation”, Hunter and Druid are the shooters and Green Dragon and Phoenix are both flying units, sent, wherever they are needed.
Honestly, I can totally see this working. And I like the units as well.
Now to DUNGEON:
Assassin
Stalker
Troglodyte
Medusa
Manticore
Minotaur
Champions are obvious I would say.
Honestly, not that important to me. I miss wonderful heroes 5 Assassin and I am pretty sure, there would have been other ways to go to the “sneaky Dungeon” that there is now instead of splitting this unit up. But I can not imagine this “Shadow Unicorn” and strike and return without enemy retaliation is only half of the way. And construct? No, not to Dungeon please.
And I hoped for Inferno anyway
Now then, what creatures will you choose?

For Sylvan:
Core:
Pixie/Sprite (classic and solid unit. Always really fun to use)
Root snake/Root python (an interesting concept I'm sad to see was never carried out.)
Hunter/Master hunter (another classic. Many arrows, so many dead enemies. Just wonderful)
Elite:
Emerald warrior/Emerald knight (like with the python, it was an interesting concept and I'm sad it never got any further than this. Beside, it seemed cooler than the bladedancer.)
Silver unicorn/Golden Unicorn (Why was the druid and not this in every possible lineup. Why? It is one of the most iconic units in the entire series!)
Treant/Ancient Treant (Just a must have. Nothing like giant angry treemen)
Champion
Green dragon/Emerald dragon (sadly it's design wasn't too good, but I love the idea of a flightless earth dragon)
Phoenix/Greater Phoenix (and here is the compensation for the flightless earth dragon. That and it's another classic and exellent creature.)
For Dungeon:
Core:
Skrimisher/Darkblade (Ahh, a reminder of the wonderful bloodmaiden of heroes V. A another good concept left behind)
Shadow Lurker/Shadow Watcher (flying laser shooting pile of tentacles and eyeballs. Perfect.)
Troglodyte/Chthonian (Very good creature, and just so useful)
Elite:
Medusa/Medusa Sorceress (I voted for this, and I'm keeping this.)
Manticore/Scorpicore (well fanservice )
Minotaur/Minotaur Guard (classic must-have, though abilities could be better.)
Champion:
Shadow dragon/Black Dragon (they should have made a new design, or at least new wings)
Cave hydra/Dark hydra (hydra oh wonderful hydra)

Sylvan:
Core:
Hunter/Master Hunter - Pretty much defines Sylvan for me. Classic Elf with a bow.
Root Snake/Root Python - Pretty cool sounding unit with a lot of potential, although imo fits better with Swamp Fortress (not that that was on the table for H7)
Dryad/Oak Dryad - Having pixies instead of these just makes Sylvan a glass canon with no bulk at all in core units. While I think Sylvan should be a more offensive faction in general, Dryads work better here imo.
Elite:
Druid/Druid Elder - Again, I just can't picture Sylvan without them
Silver Unicorn/Golden Unicorn - Okay, I could rant for hours about why the Twilight Deer are a stupid unit that maybe would have been okay as a neutral but is now forever ruined because they replaced Unicorns. Here's a list of things the Twilight Deer are more powerful than that there's no possible way they should be:
-Bears
-Dire Wolves
-Griffins
-Djinns
-Lamasus
-Liches
-Wyverns
-Striders
-Valkyries
Anyway Twilight Deer suck, Unicorns FTW.
Blade Dancer - I actually thought these worked really well as elite units, and I choose them over Emerald Knights because those seem too dungeony in function.
Champion:
Treant/Ancient Treant - Again, classic Sylvan, adding much needed bulk
Phoenix/Greater Phoenix - We need less dragons imo, especially re-skinned Kirins that you had pretty much no reason to use over Treants.
Dungeon:
Core:
Shadow Lurker/Shadow Watcher - I loved these things in H6, super useful, plus they fit well with both classic Dungeon and Dark Elf Dungeon
Troglodyte/Chuthonian - I've always had a soft spot for Trogs even though they were complete garbage in H3. I honestly think they should be a given for every Dungeon line-up, as much so as the Black Dragon.
Skirmisher/Darkblade - Whether Harpies or half-naked Dark Elves, I think the strike-and-return core unit is essential to Dungeon's playstyle.
Elite:
Minotaur/Minotaur Guard - Minotaurs are as defining to Dungeon as Black Dragons. Can you imagine no Minotaur in Dungeon? It would be like having no Unicorn in Sylvan, and I mean really, what idiot would think that no Unicorn in Sylvan was a good idea, especially if they then wanted to have a vote on line-ups and only include Unicorns in one of them, and then when the Unicorn line-up loses not even make Unicorns a neutral creature? *eye twitches uncontrollably*
Manticore/Scorpicore - One of my favorite mythical creatures ever, and again fits with both classic and Ashan Dungeon.
Faceless/Faceless Assassin - I know these things are pretty controversial among "old-school" fans, but I actually thought they were one of the few good things about H6. Maybe I would put Medusa here if I didn't know now that they would just be remodeled Nagas with super boring lore, but I do.
Champions:
Shadow Dragon/Black Dragon - All I wanted out of Dungeon in H7 was for my precious Black Dragons to not be purple butterfly cats, but I guess that was too much to ask for.
Cave Hydra/Dark Hydra - I really like the legless cave Hydras, I actually think they work better in Dungeon than Fortress.
