Duel mode cybersport as the future
Looked at charts of sales with the search name "heroes".
http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=Heroes
Among PC exclusive games somehow in top are the H7. Not that bad contrary to information about it. Suprising enought wog is in the list and not the least.
But at charts one can notice that the most wealthy sports nowedays is the cybersport. It alsou had grabed the atention of some very serious organisations and very fat oligarchs.
Once I had written a post that games aren't that bad, it's only bad when its the only the games and it is almoust the most important media for a youth. So they organised triatlon made of patriotic cybersport, test on history and physical exercises. You can gues what this organisation is, but they need conscripts
Ubisoft loves wealth. That's their trade. So they could make a cybersports oriented duel mode of H5 or something like that. They must take at least 1% niche. It's kind of advanced chess, just more fun. And half a hour play of duel is just right for the competive multiplayer. This could be an earning niche and how Heroes line can continiue.
Throught do they realy need a male and female divide of cybersports? In interview: "I was in cybersports but since in female league there is no glory (and money) I turned to become a comentator." But it sounds just like sports.
Alsou they could make faces of human females more slavic. Nival was russian company. And in game development they make faces so that they would not look russian. In some games western auditory complained that faces are too russian. For male faces it's ok. But maybe human females could look like Ivanka or Melany Trump Isabel and Freyda are twins.

I don't think those charts are that accurate, I wouldn't trust them too much. WoG isn't even an expansion, it's a mod, you can't "sell" it. Heroes III HD as bad as it is it's nowhere to be seen, it has at least 450k on Steam. As of 1999-2000, we know that NWC sold at least +750k copies, and that's directly from Greg Fulton, .Even h6, which I am ashamed to admit has 550k copies on steam alone, h5 has at least 300k copies on steam too. And I'm pretty sure steam is a lot easier to track than physical copies.

Heroes will never catch as a cybersport mainly because the game takes too long, you can have duels, but that's cutting about most the game features. No one will stay and watch 8 hours 1v1 games regularly at least.

Heroes isn't one of one ubisoft's cash cows, they will only milk it without taking huge risks, and I certainly not see competitive heroes as a major source of income, but again I'm not an expert, it's just my opinion.

I believe there's a lot of potential in the idea of M&M duels being the foundation for a good battle simulator, it would be quick fun that could become popular enough to maybe create a scene, but that requires quality development, dedication towards the community and love for the franchise, things which Ubisoft repeatedly demonstrated is unwilling to provide. So even if there's a hidden gem in there somewhere, there's no one to unearth it.
