speaking of comfort food, i tried what i usually do with quesadillas, on toast. grilled cheese + jalapenos, with honey to dip it in, is awesome. wash that down with a cold glass of chocolate milk, and you're floating on clouds.

Thanks for once again supporting my theory that American cuisine (an oxymoron) is basically sending various tastes down your throat in the manner of a gattling gun. I find great comfort in such support.

Dude, put aside a turkey, even a crow would taste better than jalapeno dipped in honey. But you should know already, you probably tried it with caramel dipped in mustard.

i didn't come up with the idea, my pothead cousin did. and, he was right. if you ever watch cooking shows(especially as much as I do), you will know that varying flavors and engaging different taste buds is the foundation of the best cuisine.
5-star chefs wouldn't scoff at what i posted. they'd scoff at you for eschewing the idea as typical american fast-food, man. you really don't know what you're missing. that was the best grilled cheese i ever had.

I'm all for engaging tastes and I do my own little experiments, but grilled cheese (salty), jalapeno (very hot) and honey (very sweet) followed by chocalete milk is not fusion, it's chaos. You should either use only 2 completely contrasting tastes or 3-4 supporting tastes at most (such as garlic, onions, tomato pastry, thyme). Otherwise, you'll have nothing but a slurry gruel.

no, man. the jalapeno's were barely spicy. i eat them for flavor, primarily. they're my favorite pepper.
so, spicy + sweet is wrong? cheese + jalepeno's are wrong? ever heard of mexican or asian food? do you know how many spicy + sweet dishes are out there, in all the cultures with food worth mentioning? they even have DIPS that are spicy and sweet, ffs. aren't you supposed to be one of the primarily knowledgable ones here?

Mexican cuisine is quite close to the cuisine here the way it uses hot actually, and yes, Chinese and some others have sweet meat, but that's not very hot on top of very sweet. Honey (we are not talking about honey mustard, are we?) is something extremely sweet while jalapeno pepper is something extremely hot. I mean, I adore peppers and probably tried around like 50-60 types of pepper till now, jalapeno peppers were always one of the hottest kind, never seen jalapeno that is not too spicy and people usually think I like spicy food too spicy, so it's not like I'm not used to eating hot stuff.

damn man. i was only kidding, but you're serious. jalapeno's are the kittens of the hot pepper world(at least, in the states). i like them more because of their flavor, i actually dislike most other hot peppers a great deal, because when heat overcomes flavor, it ceases to be food, for me.
you guys must really have some goddamn hot jalapeno's over there.

Can confirm that jalapenos are on the low end here. I am a sucker for spicy food and anything under a habanero is pretty tame. Love pickled jalapenos.
However, I have never understood why anyone would enjoy spicy/sweet foods. Mole sauce just tastes......wrong in my opinion.

I approve I love spicy food but I haven't really been tested on the really hot food. And actually I could use some recommendations on a good Mexican dish

don't have any specific recommendations on any particular dish. i enjoy nearly all mexican food(it's my second favorite ethnic cuisine, right after italian). when i eat at a mexican restaurant, i usually order beef and cheese enchiladas(with rice and beans on the side). pretty basic, and always tasty. i'll have them add jalapeno's if i want something spicy. but i usually don't need any additional flavors, as long as they aren't skimpy with the enchilada sauce. like my women, i prefer my mexican food to be nice and wet.
the only mexican food that i dislike(and i mean, cannot stand) is the one that's deep-fried, is wrapped in corn leaves, and is filled with oil-saturated cornmeal. can't remember the name of it(or find it online), but it's gross. it's a mexican street-food(which is usually one of the best ways to find really good food from any culture).

Tamales, never been a huge fan myself. Although there is a family friend that makes some pretty damn good ones. He steams them rather than deep fry.

tamales, yes. thank you. and after googling them, i realize that the people working at the streetside stand that i tried them from in texas, are complete idiots. they're supposed to be filled with stuff other than just saturated cornmeal.
also, i just had 2 quesadillas with the same specs as before. this time, i chased it with apple juice. delicious.

I tried Kiromasu ramen and that's spicy to the point where I was crying, but it's a different hot type to chilly peppers, like I could still taste the food (and then drinking the broth after eating all the noodles meat and the veggies).

The best comfort zone is a log cabin somewhere deep in the woods, preferrably nearby a river or at least a lake. With a side of a sauna, and a smokery to preserve your game.
