Anyone has played or is playing this gem? I absolutely love it, huge thumbs up to Microsoft for once, this game is just great, it's a game like people don't make anymore, and it feels like being inside a Miyazaki.
Played a while back, music is sublime througout. What's new in the definitive edition~?
Also the original trailer, saw it on steam and had to get it. Soundtrack literally tugs at the heart strings, don't even need to watch the amazing visuals and still get the solid feels.

But... why is the owl... evil?
You're welcome pal, and the owl isn't evil, but it wants to get you.
There's a simple reason but not gonna spoil you the story.

Agreed 100% the music is, yes, sublime is the right word for it. I can't tell the difference since I got directly the definitive edition but IIRC from what I read it seems there is additions/improvements based on fans feedback.
I also think there is a deal with people who already have the first edition for the upgrade.

Looks like it would be ideal on the console and the big TV inside the comfortable canape! If you ask me I think every game now should be on all platforms, but well, they need their exclusives.. You can dual-boot.
____________
Ah no because you said "too bad it's not cross-platform" and since is Microsoft exclusive I meant any other computer OS. I doubt it would work well with the iPad anyway though, you need your fingers.
I finished my first playthrough during the vacations, with mouse/keyboard, it works fine but you can feel the controls were made for the controller first, I'll go through it once I'll have time, for now I've only remapped the controls because they are inverted in the definitive edition.

There's no evil in this game, actually. There's only natural things, causes and consequences. Although, in some cultures, owls are symbols of bad omen and death.

As you may already know, I have both versions of that game. Right now, I'm trying to manage finishing the game in the One Life Only difficulty, while managing other 3 of the hardest game achievements altogether: not to die, don't use skill points, finish in less than 3 hours.
Had to buy an X-box game pad to play it. It was very hard playing properly on the keyboard, and my other pad wasn't 100% compatible to it. Some special movements didn't trigger for some reason, making me obliged to play using both game pad and keyboard. For some harder parts of the game, it was really troublesome.
All in all, love the music, the art, the story, the DLC, the characters.

Definitive Edition adds a part of the game where it tells the story of Naru (your adoptive mother), and then it adds an area to play. It also adds new music tracks, some new powers (and skills to match them). One of the powers make small changes on the map around the game, to fit its usage. And, of course, some achievements, one of which is finishing the game in the One Life Only difficulty. Which is pretty much useful to also achieve Don't Die achievement if you happen not to have achieved yet.
Definitive Edition, although it's bigger in map, it's quicker to play. You gain an ability which makes faster to go to and fro at some points, not to mention that you can teleport between Save Points (those fixed on tree trunks) and areas.

By annoying I mean certain gameplay instances rather than sheer difficulty. For example, when you have to pull that stone through the rotating spikes. It seems as if you would be unable to pass through but you totally can which completely changes things. Also, my controller does not have a key for pulling items so I also have to use shift from the freaking keyboard! Then there's the fun of missing an item and having to explore everything from the beginning. Or that time I kept looking through the skill screen again and again for spirit charge since because it was listed as an ability requirement.

I didn't know, first playthrough I died 1122 times, and it took me three days. But mouse/keyboard, and I experimented some things, ok I suck.
I don't own an Xbox gamepad, I have a cheap controller that came with my internet box, I have yet to see if all moves work correctly, but it seems OK with the remapping.
Yes, this game is a piece of heart, from beginning to end.

YES! Seriously when I noticed the controls were a mess in the pad I thought no freaking way!
So yes you can remap by editing ControllerButtonRemaps.txt which should be in AppData/Local lol
Yes the Shift key is the most annoying, missing an item is alright, honestly I found wandering back and forth into the world to be magical and just immensely entertaining near the end when you have most skills.
For the stone I actually liked being fooled at first, and so much that I actually went overconfident and confronted the spikes face on.

So now I have to finish the game with 560 deaths to completely destroy you

First playthrough I died 479 times. The least I died was 10, while getting the feeling of not dying the next playthrough. One of the places I most died was escaping Ginso Tree, although now I don't have any problems with it. I accidentally die usually at those laser beams, before rage quitting for some days. Because these are the few moments you suddenly die before being able to pause and reload.
Problems with generic game pad was with Shift too, and pressing UP (to charge the ability to explosive jump, one of the last powers we get). The charge would work for RIGHT or LEFT, but not for UP. I had to press UP on my keyboard to have it work.
