HOTA: Random Map Guard Strength?
Hi I've been using HOTA and was wondering how to improve Guard Strength when using the Larger Maps.
When I do STRONG setting on Small or Med maps, I get the kind of difficulty that I desire (Higher Tier Creatures) but when the map gets larger it just ends up with a higher count of weak guards instead (Lots of the Bottom Tier Creatures and no High Tier Creatures). Is there a way to fix this when I want to use the Random Map Generator for Larger maps?

No. Guard generation rules are always the same The one solution would be to add more powerful creatures, like tier 8 units from WoG. But it doesn't seem likely in HoTA.
Random is random, after all.

You mean the object guards or zone guards? Open the rmg.txt in excel, there is a "monster strength" setting for each zone. If they are on "avg" you can set them to "strong" to increase strength of object guards. For zone guards, you can increase the "connection zones" value. But it would be easier to just play a template that has stronger zone guards. Something like Panic or True Random for moderate guards, Marathon, Clash of Dragons, Frozen Dragons for crazy strong guards.

It also depends much on map and of course randomness, in most case I get some areas with tons of artifacts and tough monsters in it on every map. These areas have a higher "map value", I guess thats what counts most.
