You compare the limitations of 90's pixel art with 2017's mobile art, then you switch to the graphics of the RPGs when we're talking about Heroes, and you call for honest criticism? Yea, cute.

Pixel art mus be cartoonish? :-) Absurd.
Wolfenstein 3d pixel game 1992 year, cartoonish? Childisch?
No. It was NWC cartoon style.
Vampire is not crude but poisoned all poisoned hero looks similiar. Vampires of Jadame are crude yes, but its dark side.
In CQ you have crudes too. Here are zero big model cuties (only on title game screen are some cuties but not big model) and a lot of crudes:
But it was told not about cuties but about cartoon. Honest.

OK no MM if you want but its NWC very good style.
And here are all HI cuties especially dragon. AND NON PRIMITIVE PIXEL ART! 480 x 640px is the same like MMVI-VIII.

I agree with that. NWC style was very consistent throughout H1 to H5 alpha (not Ubi version). Even tho they did use saturated color schemes, the proportions and textures were more realistic.
From H5 (Ubisoft) onwards, the graphic started shifting to WOW style (big hands, big feet, oversized weapons, overly decorated armor, over the top magical elements). Creature Quest has nice style too, but it too is heavily influenced by WOW.

Nice work. But did you make it for fun, or is this groundwork for something in particular?
Whatever the case it looks really interesting, reminds me of 3DO Heroes 5 unusual concepts of factions. My "buts" go for some of the names (Manticore Alpha? Brainy Jellyfish? Pandamonium? etc). Or are these their actual Creature Quest names? Also I don't know if the rooster is by the levels, but if so, then I think some of the units would be better in different tiers...

There is no "limitations" for style.
Also:
Today's mobile phones are as powerful as mid-2000's computers if not more (commonly they are quad core)...
Deal with it, the graphic style of CQ isn't the same as serious games.
Though I will admit some creatures look less "cutesy" than others.
Something that makes the "cutesy" look is deformation. Big heads, big eyes. It is all about proportions. Both Heroes graphics and Wolfenstein graphics there are correctly proportioned.
Contrast this:
Huge eyes, half of body is head.

Anyways I realize this thread is just an exercise of creativity.
