I was referring to the +2+2 bonus I proposed to make up for magic heroes not getting some extra troops they normally get from artifacts in regular games.

I have not checked every duel hero, but it looked to me the chosen magic skills are based on the skillwheels and faction guild alignment. The only faction with sum+dest is academy but they also have light and dark anyway. Any other combo would likely cause to hard counter some duel heroes and light+dark will hard counter might heroes. This can cause games to become unfair if people select the random hero option.
EDIT:
I don't like enlightenment to be removed because it simulates some artifacts. I have no issue with some heroes have a little luck, I actually proposed everybody basic luck with no perks above. Marbas should not have any resistance perks, at lvl39 his special is already very strong without.

Yes, I see now, economic gains from knowledge for magic heroes are not calculated in, best solved by giving them small A & D bonus +2,+2. Ok.
While basic luck is doable, there is a question of investment in luck. If some hero has full-fledged luck skill, (3 skill points + 3 perk points = 6 levels), leaving it to basic luck would negate 5 points for all heroes, and leaving it to expert luck would negate 3 points that would be negated for all heroes, even if some heroes have only 3 skill points + 1 perk point of luck.
Also, two heroes have hardcoded luck and resistance as a starting option, Razzak and Marbas. I can replace them both with some other Hero of the same faction, or I can replace just Marbas and leave Razzak with advanced luck + resistance, if luck is to stay on expert level.

Ok, maybe I misunderstand something about how the presets work, do you mean that the game automatically fills skill slots you have not assigned? Because if this is just theoretical than you can simply assume those 5 points were otherwise invested in logistics.
Also does this also apply when the presets are modified outside the editor?
If this is the case I think a better balancing method would be to reduce their levels a bit (this would also balance hero specials much better, since I actually think Irinas griffins at lvl 39 are also overpowered compared to various other specials).

Game does not automatically fill unassigned skill slots. It just means that if I remove 3 perks slots together with 2 skill slots (5 levels) for one hero that I have to remove that for all other heroes, even if some other hero has only 4 levels invested in luck, so, one level will be reduced on some other skill or perk for that other hero.
I edit heroes xdb files which are basically text files. I can’t use any kind of game editor for editing presets because any kind of game editor crashes when I try to create or edit presets. I use notepad++ for editing presets. Perhaps it would work if I uninstall MMH5.5, but, would I be able then to create heroes that resembles the MMH5.5 hero classes?
We can lower the levels, that’s all right, by doing that the enlightenment bonus will be lower.
Option 1: lowering all heroes for 6 or 5 levels and avoid using luck. Instead of 13, enlightenment bonus will be 11, and heroes’ primary attributes will be 6 numbers lower. We can use Razzak and Marbas or some other two heroes to avoid the luck+resistance controversy.
Option 2: keep level 39 and use new-duel-presets-without-luck-10x-for-MMH55.pak. I mean, where is the difference? If magic hero needs to be somehow enhanced they will be enhanced, option 1 probably also needs some enhancement, maybe not +2,+2 A & D bonus, but +1, +1 instead?

I think in order to properly balance the specializations the levels should go down to 30, but I wouldn't bother manually lowering their primary stats since they would have a lot extra from artifacts anyway in real games. Also in a real game you can fill extra slots with witch huts, so there is no reason to be strict on this. I would focus on balance. This way nobody needs 2 shatters or 4 magic schools (dirael). 4 magic schools makes the hero extremely generic and overflows the spellbook with spells. Also nobody would take that in a real game.
If levels are lowered you can leave razzak and marbas, except marbas should not have warriors luck. (He will still be overpowered but to more tolerable levels). Note that I cannot fix his specialty, it is hardcoded.

So, it's option 2.
+2, +2 A & D bonus for mages, Dirael gets attack instead of dark magic, and the barbarian with two shatters get shatter light and shatter summoning.

That will surely balance dirael, but if Nicolai has to fight that barbarian, he will claim the system is 'rigged'
EDIT: I cannot find any hero in your presets that is screwed by shatter destructive+shatter summoning because they can still work with dark, but Mephala & Razzak are also screwed by light+sum.

Uploaded new version of new-duel-presets-5-for-MMH55.
Added +2A, +2D bonus for all mages, Dirael now has attack instead of dark magic, barbarian hero with two shatters got shatter destructive + shatter summoning, manually added Mephala specialty bonus (+1 defense for every 7 levels, that is +5 defense more on level 39) because Mephala's script doesn't work in Duel Mode, plus some minor changes in some skill configurations.

Excellent work
If my tests on puppet master frenzy switch prove succesful, I may need to make a few last minute spell swaps before implementing it in the mod. (not something you need to bother with)
I will also make an article about this on moddb, so it gets more attention in final release.

One more question:
Did you also give the wizards +2,+2 and am I correct balanced heroes did not get +2,+2. (Just something I need to be sure about, no need to work on it)

Only mage class got +2A and +2D. Balanced heroes did not get +2,+2.
NEW UPLOAD (updated with new spell configuration: arcane armor in light magic, puppet master in summoning magic and teleportation in dark magic)
EDIT: Only list of available spells in hero’s configurations were modified accordingly, there was no any kind of modification of actual spells.
