music mutes effects sounds?
i tried looking this issue up, but found nothing; so forgive me if this is explained elsewhere.
i'm currently working on sounds for a creature, and i discovered something: whenever i leave the music on, the sounds for the creatures during battle doesn't play(or play so muted that i cannot hear them). this happens even when i adjust the music bar to the "1" position, and leave the effects bar at maxed(meaning, effects should be much louder than music).
so currently, the only way i can hear any creatures in my game's effects, is to play with the music off. and that's not gonna cut it, because in the future i will be making ambience to replace the terrain and castle tracks. i will NEED music in the future.
so, what gives? i'm running h3 complete version with era 1.8(which i don't think matters). i never noticed this issue before; it seems to have just popped up recently during testing. i'm scripting sounds for these creatures; could it be that the test map i'm using having the scripts embedded in them are causing a conflict with the same exact scripts added to a regular wog script? i wouldn't imagine scripting being the issue here, either; since the sounds play fine without the music running(on "0").

Sometimes I use mp3gain software: http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net to increase custom sounds volume. Of course first I must convert wav to mp3 and then mp3 to wav but it works. Of course if I increase gain too much, there is sometimes sound clipping, but it's handy software.

i'm currently using audacity 2.1, and converting edited mp3s to 16-bit pcm wavs for the game. i think i used to be able to hear both creature sounds and battle music, but i'm unsure. i haven't changed this method of editing/converting between the old and new version of audacity, that i can remember.
