Ranloo, Beatrice, Kinkeria & Derek (HotA)
What do you think of these HotA heroes?
Are they good or bad? and why?
Are any of them worthy of being your main hero?

I don't claim to be an expert on H3, but I could see Kinkera being pretty good on really small maps, and Ranloo might be okay as a starting hero for creeping. Beatrice could be good if you're playing a random map and have some easy experience nearby. Derek seems pretty unremarkable imo.

For random, giant, never played anything else, except my own (giant) maps.
Derek, one mediocre starting skill, specialty in a creature I leave behind from start, cause they slow my main. Useless.
Ranloo, at least he always start with a ballista and Artillery, unlike Torosar. OTOH, original town doesn't sell ballistas and necromancy is pretty useless until I have the Cloack, on swamp is to avoid and till this day I never played HotA with any other town then Cove. Very good for a garrison hero, specially if I can find a witch hut giving Estates, early in his development.
Kinkeria I never used, since she has a useless skill and after level 23 or 24 all slots are filled and the specialty is only helpfull to level her up, can be good as a very secondary hero but I would rater keep Aine, Octavia or Lord Haart. Dismisable.
Beatrice, is the equivalent to Miriam, both start with a secondary skill that is useless in a scout and she can't use unneeded joiners to level up. After Offense and Logistics I feel Scouting as the most usefull might specialty. Would prefer to have Alamar, if I didn't knew Ressurection, can't recall any other magic hero I would trade her for. Priceless.
My main hero is Corkes. In one map I made from a RMG, with tons of alterations, it was Dessa. I would never use an hero that doesn't have Offense or Logistics as specialty.
I've created a mod for random WoG that would replace the starting hero with Monere, change his name to 'The Coward' and give player the chance to choose wich specialty he should start with, Logistics or Offense. I guess this says something about how broken I think these two specialties are.

Good points both of you.
@Bloodsucker About Derek and Seamen (LOL) he actually gives them 7 speed, which is the same as Sea Dogs and Nix Warriors, so unless you don't carry them around either, you can take his Seamen (LOL) without them slowing you down.
I feel you are limiting yourself with always only playing Cove and only maining an Offense or Logistics specialist, I mean sure they are good, they are more than good, they are awesome, but sometimes it might be fun to do things differently? When was the last time you had an Eagle Eye specialist or First Aid specialist as main?

I've mixed feelings.
I don't really understand why Hota team ended up with Kinkeria's mechanics. They had all the possibilities to choose from to make learning specialist as a interesting option, but I think they ended up going the extremely safe route to not make any1 too powerful. The math just doesn't add up - +30% of more exp than other heroes sounds good, but the reality is that it's just too little to begin with, and gets even worse over time.
Ranloo is a hero that I found myself sometimes playing, as his ballista adds some variance to necros early game. Ranloo may not be the strongest one, but there are quite a few death knights with bad secondary skills, especially if you don't want to play something like Isra or Tamika in every game and thus Ranloo can sometimes have his chance in the spotlight.
I think Hota team tried their best to make every hero in Cove somewhat interesting choice, and I feel Derek got the short end of the stick here. Crew mates are a great lvl 2 unit especially as you get quite a lot of them in each week. It's just that pretty much every other captain is just much more interesting than him: Jeremy, Corkes, Anabel to name a few.
Beatrice is a great scouting hero. Not that I would pick her a my main, but most definitely as a secondary. Her picture is one of favorites. Not really much more to say about her.

Crew is one of my last upgrades, so it would slow me down anyway.

Eagle: In Ira, the mage (I think it's this the name of the map). It's a map where you don't have any mage guilds and you need to learn the spells from your enemies.
First Aid: Only in campaigns, I guess.
I like to win and for me a good specialty on main is key to victory. But on big maps (my favorites), I always end up with a couple of heroes that are indistinguishable as main(s). Often, Miriam, Dracon, Gelu and Bidley, if in my own HotA maps (mostly RMG with alterations, from scrath I only made The Red Tent, but I had a serie called HotA AI, where I removed Fly and DD, increase growth and resources to AI and make separate heroes polls, so you can't get pre-developed heroes and AI will get them often. But I allow Dracon, Gelu and Bidley only to human player and change some skills, like Gelu's Leadership for Advanced Archery or Basic Diplomacy, trade Bidley's advanced Offense by advanced Diplomacy and Miriam's Offense for Pathfinding, for instance).

Beatrice: Scouting isn'T the worst talent actually but very map dependant
Ranloo: Useless same as all artillary heroes except Jeremy
Kinkeria: Useless buff from 15% -> 30% it's nothing... maybe 200-300% are noticeable in case of learning. Learning in general is useless junk. 15 means one more lvl (lvl25) -> (lvl26)
Derek: Nice for start, imho the only useful addition with Beatrice.
