These documents are very precious! Will be good to have archive of all artists! No discussion! But analise of it may be variuos. As I said for my look I see 2 hidden cities inferno and conflux but in this files is another. Ok. Its history. Now will be good to build these two cities. Ive done it in my mod 2 years ago and I have this version now. I dont play old lineup which is failed for me. Now I think how do it better.
How about  10 schools of magic? Partition by 2 is possible. All magic in 2 versions? And 2 non magic towns?

I never said something "different". Baronus categorically made affirmations, I just considered possibilities.

I never said Inferno and Conflux were on the game. Just that models for those factions were made by the asset makers, and then game designers shuffled them. Modellers and designers are two different things.

You came here trying to "Prove a negative". This was a post about trying to make or recreate other towns. Inferno or Conflux wasn't even mentioned.

Alternative facts is that NWC was always right good and holy and that all their plans were so cool and dandy followed to the letter. If they were they woudn't have gone under as they did.

The many errors on H4, proven, absolutely, and shipped with the game (I do not speak of design errors here -those amount to taste... though I didn't ever met anybody who actually liked the shipped infernopolis-, I speak of many typos -NOT text flavor typos, FILENAME typos that disable game functionality-, duplicate files, mistakes in programming, abilities that don't even work, tons of unfinished features, artifacts, basic errors, bad and unworking AI, lack of RMG, etc.) shows the game development was shoddy, unprofessional and disorganized.

Maybe you can thank your darling Bullard for that...

I for once am trying to improve it.

Different look for all class is very good idea. How many heroes it need?
9  skills 5 x 9 = 45 + 11 starting = 56 a lot... Harm we cant implement it...

Dont get me wrong. I love H4. And I love developers that publish their files (too bad we only have text and not Models or Source Code...)

After all I have been playing and mapmaking all of these years.
To my knowledge, there is no other game that is a blend of storytelling RPG+TBS like Heroes IV.
next heroes games reverted back the combat-hero thing which is just tragic to me. Imagine in H5 those elephant-mounted heroes in combat. It would have been so cool.

What is worse is that this didn't stem from any balance problem. Combat heroes were surprisingly balanced for a first try and the numberless possibilities they opened. It was just because of crying fans.

The "conservative fanbase", erwin would call them

So heroes IV is the only game that comes to mind where you can assemble a party of unique heroes in a plot-driven story AND command numberless armies of a variety of creatures in a continent-spanning kingdom. (if anyone knows any other, I'm all ears)

But the possibilities that were squandered were great.

So, we can focus on improving the game, instead of on discussing whether Inferno or Conflux were considered at any stage?

That was the point of the thread, discussing what we could do now, not opening a can of worms...

hey Jesus leaving aside the fallacies for a minute, no need to take a somewhat vitriolic turn to the discussion mate, it is just a spirited debate of gentlefolk not a personal matter,
come on let's be mates and respect Jennifer and all the developers of NWC, everyone and their mother knows for years that the game was messed and rushed by 3DO, it is not in dispute but NWC still delivered us a great game within their constraints and limited means so I for one say cheers lol

oh hey now for sure no intention to be a belligerent tone mate, you have misinterpreted that where Baronus did not, if you know me I will always have a spirited debate with firm arguments and lots of friendly ribbing or hyperbole but for what reason would I have a personal beef with you, I only have the height of respect for you and your modding, do not take such tomfoolery and shenanigans personally for even a moment because I for sure do not lol

however if it comes to slating the good folk of NWC from our chairs when they are not around just to score points against me then I must object to that, those were very talented folk who did their best in spite of the cretin Trip Hawkins and for me it is not doing them justice to imagine otherwise, slate me for a hundred years but not them, I would sooner just concede a debate and walk off than have us resort to that angle lol

anyway for me personally if I had the evil monkey's paw I would probably make a town for each of the unused town types, which are Dirt, Sand, Subterranean and Water (although maybe Water would be a bad or limited town),
probably it would be the Ruins and the Precipice with the stupider creatures replaced and then whatever may seem to suit and be unique, I could not imagine a Conflux being any good but maybe an Inferno/Necro split would make sense if it would not disrupt the Gauldoth campaign, and I might even throw in a weird town for good measure (like interdimensional weirdos of the Ancients or something like that) cheers lol

From this "chair" I have worked as much as any NWC employee on Heroes 4 and got no pay out of it. And this was made to continue that work.

So is anything you are the only one in this forum that hasn't contributed to H4 game modification...

As for the towns, we don't even know how to change the native terrains yet (and if they have any impact ingame whatsoever like they had in H3 is not even on my knowledge)

The only thing we can change regarding that is the backgrounds that appear on heroes and creatures depending on their alignment.

But I have already made a water-based town for example, is not limited at all (T1 Pirate and "ghost sailor", T2 Harpoon (ballista) and Mermaid, T3 Ice Demon and Titan, T4 Sea Monster and "island" sorceress)

Well that escalated quickly.

Anyhoo, I just dropped in to mention that the Outpost object was planned for heroes to be able to deploy them, and they could then be built into a particular town type (probably based on the hero that deployed it, but who knows).

The lore definitely supports the way the lineups were created by the developers. Of course that doesn't mean you have to like it, and you can certainly mod it to the way that you do

No, what I said was that Dogwoggle's path name has no reference to any advanced class compared to the path name of the others, thus I don't see Dogwoggle's path reference supporting your theory. That has nothing to do with his model referencing an Axe instead of a Hammer.

But I'll leave it with this. Like Verriker I merely wanted to point out the difference between fact and theory, but I sense this is begining to get unnecessarily muddy.
I will admit that for a time I wasn't a fan of Verriker and his inevitable lol's, but in time I've actually grown to respect him quite alot. And to look past his trademark. The reason is I couldn't ignore his factuality. Despite my initial thoughts, I've learned/concluded that he is in fact not against fan ideas or modding as one might otherwise get the impression of, but simply he feels very strong about keeping the original NWC game/world and any fan additions seperate. I guess for all he cares you could make Mona Lisa Asian or Afro-american, but that's not how she was originally painted. And despite whatever we know or guess was planned for the game, that wasn't how it was released. And that's not to say we shouldn't take the liberty to add to it. But starting a fight about who's contributed most to the modding community is just dragging the discussion down into the mud. Let's stay above. I'll focus my energy into modding rather than this or Brennus' everlasting bitterness. Isn't it time to replace the lemon with something nicer?

It was in the Jennifer Bullard files, though I'm not sure if that particular tidbit made the cut for extraction.

Go into the editor and find the object Outpost (Delete me now), then press the right button to "Proporties..."
I also respect the NWC work... Let me dream, we need to find a beta version for November 2001, it existed, in Ubisoft probably there is he.

Roman, I already stated it has owner properties, but that's it. You can conquer it, but the intended use that iLiVe.. described wasn't added/finished, but still it could be added as an Outpost/Warning Post as we can replace the image. I know Equi team tried to enable it, but so far I believe they failed.

If its lost we can cut it from screens and add to game. So all sceens should be searched for beta objects.
