R.I.P. Ursula K. Le Guin
Ursula K. Le Guin died. It's been like ages since I last read her. I remember reading the Dispossessed on a bus trip, a friend had recommended me the book just like recommending some good restaurant around the corner, I had no idea she was this very famous writer and the book was her most celebrated work. The bus trip was going to be a long one and I just gave it a go. Then suddenly the whole journey was over and I was rushing out to find a cab in the terminal to get to my house quickly so that I could finish the book. I don't even remember the details of that novel now, but I remember, the bus kept going and there was this line, "true voyage is return" and it had hit me. I kept pausing to read, looked out at the road and the line kept repeating in my head, "true voyage is return."
"A scientist can pretend that his work isn't himself, it's merely the impersonal truth. An artist can't hide behind the truth. He can't hide anywhere.”
- Ursula K. Le Guin, The Dispossessed
