Sandro is my favorite. Necropolis creatures are not known for their hard punch so sometimes I like to weight the balance in my favor with magic.

Yeah, I am not really counting him, he is a pretty OP campaign hero and usually not allowed for standard play.
If your avatar is anything to go by, I guess you like Sandro, but probably would name Galthran as best Necro hero, am I right?

The speed/attack/defense bonus Galthran gives to skeletons makes him the best necromancer. One could argue that isra or vidomina are better cause they specialise in necromancy thus gather more of them but galthran skeletons will be way more powerfull and it is also ver important to keep in mind that the necromancy skill can't go beyond 100% so if Galthran reaches it he raises just as much skel than isra or vidomina.He also starts with shield and armorer to make up for this!

I love Thant for some reason. Maybe because he had a nice background story or maybe due to how he looks like. I guess I just love going with him. Plus, his speciality in Reanimation is quite handy in mid and late game.

Because back in Heroes 2, he was the one that made me say: "Hey, look, his name is Sandro! Cool!"
Sandro is a rather common name in my country. Can't say the same for almost any other hero in those games. Besides, he's always stylish and cloaked.
Aislinn comes as a second.
The rest I really don't remember and I'm not going to search about what they are specialized in. If I don't remember, then I don't remember.

I learn something new on these boards all the time. At what level do the necromancers Max out? (I'm assuming Isra hits his limit long before Galthran.)

Depends if you play HotA or not, also how many necromancy artifacts you got (or even Cloak Of The Undead King) and finally how many Necromancy Amplifiers (in Necropolis towns) you got.

Since Gal is banned in HotA and creature specials aren't too crazy, I'd probably go for Charna (Tactics) or Tamika (Offense). Thant makes some maps way easier, but if you can manage without him, it will reward you in the end.
