Orryth
- Nice to meet you Orryth. - Serta said- Aye, it is. I just recently bound the spirit to my will. - Serta said. On her belt, there were three statuettes, all the same size and similar in appearance yet at the same time different. These totemic statuettes, each housed a bound elemental spirit. - And it nearly cost me my own life. - She added.
Frederigo
- Hundreds of thousands? - Magnus chuckled. - Aye, that's 'ol Francis alright. I was with him on that supply guard duty. Couldn't been more than a few hundred, but it was a sizeable force of those blasted sods. They brought in some of their more brutish voidspawn for the assault. An the rest, you already know from your father - The Dwarf chuckled again.
The troops were moving corpses as of now. Domerth And General Zhaoshin were conversing with Khan Cagan. The orc warlord had sustained some light injuries, but was otherwise ok. He had agreed to take Domerth and his officers to meet the Orc Elders residing within a city. The now slain master-at-arms, would also be given a proper orcish funeral, and his ashes would be entombed within the catacombs of Kree. As such, Domerth had given the order for the camp to be moved besides the walls of Kree for the time being.

- Well, good thing it didn't! And not only because of the fact that, if it had, you wouldn't have been here to lend your aid. - At this point, Orryth decided it best to get outside of this circle of death that he was practically standing at the center of. He stepped over a few bodies to get to where Serta was, and then continued on in that direction. He continued on talking as if expecting she would come along with him for a while. - Part of my magical abilities is due to some books I had been researching about shamanism. My enchantments are pretty well that, though I can only get the spirits to help within. I can't really summon them forth yet. Well, unless you count my pickax turning into a tortoise shell shield. Though, I look to that more as an enchantment than a summoning. And it's the only enchantment I have managed upon something or someone besides myself. Would also be more useful if I could wield both at the same time too. I shouldn't complain too much though. I am far better than I was five years ago.

Serta was rather intrigued by Orryth's skill, thus she kept questioning him about it, along the way back to the camp.
Meanwhile, the orcs were gathering their dead and preparing them for burial.
Allikha's body was no exception. The corpse had been washed and adorned with clothing made from soft cloth, made from linen and wool. the prepped body was then put onto a funeral pyre, with a small wooden statuette of Drakthan placed on his chest.
One of the Elders of Kree said a little prayer in the orc native tongue as the pyre of Allikha was lit, with orcish songs of valor as the background. The fire burned surprisingly quick, and after an hour Allikha's body was cremated. The ashes were gathered into an urn, and Domerth gave one of the Elders some of Allikha's possessions to be entombed with him - his yataghan blade that someone recovered from the battlefield, his amulet carved from Fourhorn ivory, his tabard with the sigil of House Dragonheart, as the orc served as the master-at-arms for Domerth's family as well as he did the Brotherhood, and his warhorn. These items were to be placed by his urn, in a niche inside the Catacombs of Kree.
The overall athmosphere after the battle was rather joysful. The orcs were burying their dead, so the orcish songs of valor, mostly from the epic of Allikha Khan were echoing through the area.
Domerth sat on a stool besides the camp, overlooking the battlefield, his swords resting on a wolf's pelt near him. He had a bottle and a mug besides him as well as a wooden dish with a bit of bread and sausage. He had an inkwell, a quill and his journal with him as well.
"Ninth of the Month of Timber, Forty-Seventh year in the Second Age of Heroes
Today we had liberated Orcish capital of Kree. We had caught the Emerdinan army by surprise, and with artillery salvos and cavalry charges we had managed to cause complete chaos amongst their ranks. Alongside regular emerdinans, the enemy army had members of the Cult, as well as bound voidspirits as well. The battle after the initial charge was fierce, as the emerdinans fought relentlessly. We had destroyed the entire emerdinan army sent to capture Kree. I don't know how many of them were sent to die here, but some men began estimating their numbers, with most saying that the force were double that of our own, including Kythayans. I've ordered our Samman mages to take some Shadecloaks and rummage through the campsite of the Emerdinans, looking for anything important, from cult communications, to maps and battleplans."
Domerth put down the quill and picked up his cup. He rank the mead from it, overlooking the battlefield, where a few hours prior, a fierce battle had raged on.

Federigo sat inside his wagon, he lit a few candles to light up his little desk, and mumbling something he started writing an account of the previous engagement.
Detailing the forces in play was easy enough, he was allowed to consult the reports from the Shadecloaks and he himself wrote a tally of the Brotherhood army, the only army that wasn't as clear was the Kythayan relief force, of which he could only give a more approximate
description of.
He also wrote down Domerth's speech, and had a clear view of the initial charge.
The problems started to arise when he had to write on the actual battle, as during the clash he was more focused on felling the giant voidspawn than anything, as such he had an incredibly narrow view and found that such an incomplete and personal view of the battle couldn't be acceptable for posterity.
He stopped writing after detailing the charge of the Brotherhood cavalry, he put away his notes and started venturing around the camp intentioned to ask around what the various members did, he ultimately set out to join any soldiers that were still celebrating their victory, in hopes to learn anything more from their boasting.

"Bloody Gar getting a free pass."
"With those Sammans around it's not like we have any need for him here. You should be thankful to them we didn't get stuck for more base duty.
"Heh, the brass sure wasn't too happy about the whole ordeal." He smirks. "Not sure which pissed them off more. The fact that half the support corps had Whisper of the Wood on their lips or the fact that thanks to her they had to take care of rounding up the horses."
"HAHAHAHAH! That old guy of the support was a welcome sight." Then his face darkens. "But we're sure to get paid back in full for that. Next time we're gonna get the suicide scout for sure."
Similarly serious the other man nods.
"They'll make sure the only cloak Jade can don in the future is that of a hero."
"They're done over there."
Jade nods to the mages who've scanned the area for any magical signatures.
"No magic I recognise either. ." Jade leaves the mages and jogs over to her two subordinates.
"Traps first." with that the three split up and start meticulously going through the area one tent at a time. The camp is in complete disarray and most of the tents have been left standing as the army disbanded. Some of them have burned down though, probably oil lamps knocked over or thrown on them on purpose. Still, it would be a nasty prize for being hasty if one of them happened to be rigged. After a tent has been deemed safe the mages put a mark on it and start cataloging the documents.

Orryth stood among the singing orcs, listening to their song. He had been taught the orcish language as he was raised, even though he hadn't had much opportunity to practice it. His mother felt it was something that he and his brother should learn anyway. He knew nothing of these songs however, but listened to their words, taking it all in. Empellian found him, and tried to start a conversation with him, but the orc just shooed him away. With a pointing to the sky and his ear, Orryth got his message to Empellian well enough.

- Hey lad - Magnus said to Domerth, as he sat besides him with a plate of food and a bottle of his own. The dwarf had some minor bruises on his face, but nothing serious.
- Hey Magnus - Domerth replied as he put away his journal and picked up his mug of mead. The two drank.
- Such a shame about Allikha. - The dwarf began. - I think he wanted to retire to this here city. You know, follow the orc tradition of passing on the knowledge.
- Well, he did got his wish, partially at least.- Domerth replied. There were other Masters-at-arms in the Brotherhood, most trained by Allikha, but few ever reached the mastery that the orc had in training new recruits.
- Aye, that he did. He's now telling the story of this day to all the heroes in the Vellyn's halls. - Magnus sat silent for a moment. - He was a good friend. Bloody fierce fighter, I tell you lad, you should've seen him in our younger days. Sight to see. This one time, we've got a bunch of boastful recruits, so during a training session, Allikha told all of them to attack him at once. About four dozen lads mind you. Disarmed them all, every bloody single one of them, without any of the lads landing a blow on him.
Domerth smiled. This performance sure was Allikha's favourite move to crush any arrogance within the new recruits, even in his later years.
- Must've been a great sight to see - He said. - I remember when he trained us, the Dragonheart children. I always thought he went easier on Aveline for some reason, even though we both were exhausted and bruised from his training. I am thankful for it though, he was a great mentor.
- Aye, he sure had a knack for that. A natural bloody talent - Magnus chuckled. - When we searched for the Goblet, we've took in one lass, who never held a weapon in her hands. Allikha moulded her into one of the fiercest duelists and sharpshooters in the Brotherhood at the time. Even us old timers got a tough time defeating her in a sparring session one on one after Allikha was through with her.
- Who was she? - Domerth asked as his curiousity was sparked a little.
- Frederigo's mother. Guinerve the Kestrel we called her. Bloody good lass. - Magnus said and drank from his bottle.
The rest of duty free members of the Brotherhood were burying their slain comrades, and singing the Ode to the Immortal Warriors. While conversing, Domerth and Magnus could hear the last part of the ode:
"Rise brothers rise,
Pass through Vellyn's gates
Here great warriors await
Reborn from thy steel
All thy wounds be healed
From the earth to the sky
Now the sons of Parkkun rise!
Take thy place among the kings
For thy souls shall never die!"
The end of the song was followed by cheers and toasts to the deceased.
Domerth continued to listen to the stories Magnus told about the days of the Brotherhood before he was born, while he stuffed tobacco in the intricatelly carved pipe that his father had left him. Although he read them in the company's annals, it was far more entertaining listening them told by the dwarf.
Meanwhile, at the enemy camp, the search party had been busy looking for something of value.
- Gods damn it, this cursed chest is a motherbugger - Halfman said, panting, while he and one shadecloak were carrying a rather heavy chest ornamented with the markings of the Cult. it was sealed with a keystone seal, often used by the Cult.
- Why don't you let the others carry it?- Nightshade asked the small wizard
- Sod off, Nightshade - Halfman replied in a teasing manner. - You better find the bloody keystone to this blasted trunk. - The small wizard had a habit helping with anything, despite his small size. He simply refused to stand aside and let someone else, a full body person to do it for him. - This has to be a treasure trove of Cult writings in this chest. At the very least. - He added.
The chest was carried out, and placed on a cart, along with a lot of other loot that the search party had found. besides the heavy chest, there were maps with battle plans, Cult communication orbs, a lot of pieces of gear that the Samann suspected were enchanted, and sealed Cult tomes with their corresponding keystones.
- I think this one's last - Halfman said while catching his breath, after Nighshade placed the final keystone, which would unlock the chest into the cart, by the rest of the stones. - Thanks for the help lads - He said to the Shadecloaks - I've heard the orcs gave out some Fourhorn Jerky and kumys for us, if you hurry back, you may still get some, I've heard it's quite the tasty thing. We'll take care of the magic loot you've find here.

With the singing being over, and after making a few toasts, Orryth felt it a fine time to depart. There were a few more areas within the tome that were marked that he wanted to focus on. He excused himself from the orcs around him and went to his tent. He pulled out the tome, and took a seat.

Federigo walked around the camp and learned about some interesting episodes that happened during the clash, though some claims were really outlandish he was able to close the gaps in his recollection.
While reordering the facts in his head he started to recall the heat of battle, which meant remembering the moment of his fall from his horse. The pain on his back had him fearing for his life, but there was something else that was off. His vision was starting to meld with his memories, the battlefield flashed before his eyes in a red tint, he turned his head around quickly, and saw the tents tinted in red. In that moment he touched his forehead, he could feel a crust under his bandages.
He realized what happened right then, the blood in his face, the fear of death, the light-headedness, all could be traced to a distraction in handling some scissors, he recoiled in horror from the knowledge that he could be perturbed so easily.
He started walking nervously to help his mind drift off, he eventually ended up near Domerth and Magnus, since he saw them conversing intensely he decided not to bother them.

Domerth and Magnus continued to converse, with the dwarf retelling the stories of the Brotherhood from his earlier days.
Where in the job of the troops and Shadecloaks had ended, the job of the Samann Sorcerers began.
The lesser ranked brotherhood sorcerers were deciphering the texts of the cult, while Nightshade and Halfman had focused on the sealed books and the chest.
They had unsealed two of the tomes as of now, and with each opening the mages had to absorb a firestorm of green voidfire into a vacuum. The tomes contained summoning incantations for summoning different voidspawn, voidspirits included. Other grimoires contained various spells developed by the Conclave, although perverted and twisted by the Cult to be conjured using the energies of the Void.
The deciphered cult texts yielded a ton of information on their plans of further conquest, if Kree would to fall.
The next day had brought a bit of warmth with it. The officers of the Brotherhood had been granted entry to the city of Kree. The orc elders wanted to have a word with the Brotherhood. General Zhaoshin and her Samann aide, White Lotus came along as well.
White Lotus was a kythayan woman of a short stature, only a bit taller than Magnus. she wore a Kythayan hanfu dress in Samann colours, and carried a staff with a head of a kythayan wyrm carved from jade as the headpiece, and a jian sword decorated with lotus patterns.
The city itself was rather modest looking. The orc capital had wooden buildings, mimicking the yurts that nomadic orcs used for the most part, as well as five circles of megaliths in the center of the city. Beyond the circles, there was a larger, crescent shaped building, as Domerth and his officers were explained, it was the set of the orc elders.
The city was more busy than usual, since all of the orc tribes had came to it's defense.
As the company entered the crescent yurt, they were greeted by orc elders, all clad in white linen clothing decorated with various trinkets made from fourhorn horns. Each elder seemed to have something unique on their person, from a ornate weapon, to several oricsh statuettes which most likely housed bound elemental spirits and a medicine man's staff. Near them was Serta. The orc elders looked frail, as the siege had taken it's toll.
- Esteemed Brothers of the Banner, Our kythayan friends. - One of the orcish elders, sitting in the center of the room began. He seemed to be one of the shamans, as he held a shaman's staff and had intricate tattoos on his visible body, mostly his arms.- We thank you for your aid. If it wasn't for your timely arrival, Kree would've surely fallen. You are welcome to stay in Kree for as long as you need. - He said and took a deep breath.
- We thank you for this kindness, revered elder. - Domerth said as he bowed slightly.
- There is one thing I would like to request of you, Young Dragon - The elder said. - Serta here, would wish to join the ranks of your Brotherhood. She says to me, that you have one of our kin amongst you, who intrigued her in his mastery over the arcane.
- It can be arranged without problems. - Domerth said. - We're always looking for people to bolster our ranks. And the orc you speak of is right here, he was part of the group that recovered the legendary Malus. - Domerth gestured at Orryth.
- So I've heard about it. - The elder said. - A most peculiar tale indeed. Yong one - The elder said to Orryth - Can you step forward?

- Yes. Here, let me show you.
Orryth did a quick incantation. Afterwards, he bent backwards far more flexibly than anyone would have thought possible. He then returned to an upright position.
- I have yet to figure out a great time to use that one in combat, but it made a decent example at least. You see, I can...take on the aspect of the animal spirits. The elemental ones accompany them as well, though I do not have full control over which of those comes forth. Well, most of the time I do, but there are a few times it doesn't work as expected. Anyway, it's all an inward sort of deal. I haven't yet got my magic to work properly outwardly yet. Well, with the exception of my pickax here.
Orryth took hold of his weapon and shifted it into its tortoise shell form.
- I got this to work. Not entirely sure it was what I was going for either, but it's been great thus far. I bought a tortoise figurine roughly five years back, and somehow, while I was practicing what I was studying, I got this to happen.

- Most peculiar. - The elder replied after seeing Orryth's presentation of his abilities. - And I assume that you got your expertise of shamanic arts from the observations that they - The elder gestured at the Samann - Had made years prior, when they requested to study us. Master Half-a-Man was one of our guests then as I remember.
Halfman stepped forward.
- Yes, that is true revered elder. I was then an apprentice of the
now Arch-sorcerer of the Samann, Three-Eyes, who did a study on orcish shamanism. I am usually overseeing Orryth's training. It is going really well, I assure you, with the scarce material that we're working it.
The shaman elders began whispering amongst themselves. After a few minutes, the elder that requested to see Orryth began to speak again.
- You have done well in your teachings then Master Half-a-Man. We do not usually condone the mixing of our craft with the teachings of your Conclave, however we take into the account the details of the upbringing of this young orc. We, the leders who guard the art of Shamanism ask one thing. That Serta here, one of our finest young shaman, would aid Orryth in his quest for knowledge and power. We also present you with a gift. - An eagle spirit flew towards Orryth carrying a scroll made from fourhorn leather. It dropped the scroll in the orc's hands and vanished with a puff of silver energy.
- The writings of our forefathers should help you summon and bind spirits of your choosing to you, young one. May Drakthan and the Great Khan Allikha oversee you in your travels.- He said bidding farewell.
Thus the audience was concluded. Afterwards, Domerth decided to give some leave time for his men, to relax, recuperate and have an opportunity to purchase some trinkets and other goods made by the orcs.
As the senior staff of the Support Corps took care of the handing out of the wages, Domerth inducted Serta into the Brotherhood.
Afterwards, Domerth too decided to go and see what the orcs would have for sale.
Since the queen of Merinanth ordered several wagons of grain to be brought to Kree, some of the Support Corps helped the orcs to unload the goods to the granaries of Kree, which were nearly depleted during the siege. The grain stocks were indeed low after the war, and one could overhear the orcs talking about losing a significant portion of their herds, due to them having slaughtered some of their cattle for food, or lost them to illnesses.
Domerth walked into a supposed market square of Kree. Most of the orc merchants were selling goods made from fourhorn leathers and horns,as well as few blacksmiths and other artisans. Plenty of Brotherhood's men were also browsing the stalls, or mingling with the orcs from different tribes, either exchanging stories, sharing a drink or both.
Domerth knew that this iddylic scene wouldn't last long, and as soon as his men rested, they would have to move forwards. He dedicated the evening of today for planning the next move. The Emerdinan Caliph was still in power, and this war will end only if he, and his Cult allies are deposed.

Having finally completed his gathering of informations on the battle itself, Federigo decided to relax by committing to one of his numerous side projects.
Halfway through the voyage to the north Federigo had started writing a sort of treatise on every culture he could meet and observe and how they lived in the lands farther from Merinanth. The previous quest had left him with a lot of material regarding dwarven life, the traditions of the northeners and the ways of the dryads.
The brief stay in Kree was a great occasion to observe how Orcs behaved in a fixed community as opposed to their nomadic ways and would give great insights on their religion and traditions considering the central role of the city.
Federigo wandered about in the city, discussing with scholars and priests as well as chatting with the various traders that reached the city before the siege.
In the evening he returned to the camp and wrote some notes about what he heard during the day.
At some point he recalled hearing a merchant talking about some interesting news about the Emerdinians, he immediately closed his notes and looked for Domerth.

He was now in the officer's tent, along with Halfman, Magnus and the rest of the officers, making plans for the invasion of Emerdina, when Frederigo entered the tent.

-My lord, I have been conversing with the members of a quite renown clan to garner more about their ways of life, 'twas a fruitful discussion.- Federigo paused for a moment: -Of course, I'll leave out the details of their kin, as it is not concerning my visit. I discovered that a group of these orcs suddenly disappeared during an hunting trip.-
He then turned around, searching for a map, seeing one on the table he said:
-The unsurprising part is that the Emerdinians were involved, they probably were captured by a patrolling army when they ventured too near the Emerdinian border. When they started searching for them they couldn't find anybody, only one of their kinsmen managed to free himself and get away. I had the honor of speaking with him, he remembered vividly where he was brought and what he saw...-
Federigo raised his finger and asked: -May I point in what region he said they were brought to?-

-Rajganur? That makes it easier for me then.-
Federigo pointed to the east of Rajganur and said:
-This is the vicinity of where the abducted orcs were brought, now the interesting part of the story, that orc told me he could see a flame shining in the distance atop of a tower, in a similar fashion to a beacon, and around said tower there was quite the movement of men, a group stood out as they were moving like in a procession.-
Federigo then pulled out some papers and continued: -I remember that during the battle we encountered voidspawns that had invaded orcish bodies, I asked myself, why did the Emerdinians need to bring captives to such a singular border fort instead of a nearer town? For this reason I believe that tower is somehow connected to the cult. Although I would need to have Master Halfman's opinion on that.-

- The voidspawn at this battle were made from slain defenders of Kree. - Halfman said. - We had exmined them thoroughly to be sure of that. But, there is no doubt that the Cult is rounding up slave stock to be used in the binding of the void spirits. That orc must've been really lucky to escape. Or was actually allowed to escape. Can't rule that last one out I'm afraid. - Halfman said as he reached for a cup of wine.
After a sip he continued to speak
- That area, could be as well be a coven for the cult, and wiping it out may as well be one of our top priorities as we enter Emerdina.
