HoMM 5.5 LAN: Can't play saved games

Hi, (My english is bad. I will try do my best)
At this moment me and my friend are trying solve this problem.
We are using GameRanger. We can create game and play, but we can't play saved games. If someone knows how to solve it - please, help us.

"Client game database checksum does not match Host game database checksum. Check installed mods and patches. Error Code 0.2.0"

What is the initial setup of the game? do you use 8th skills?

Try the following - The one who is hosting the game to take the save game and give it to the other player. Than try again.

If you used Advanced Random Map Generator (ARMG) to create new maps, it is possible that ARMG left one folder (“RMGTemp” folder) and one file (“index.bin”) in your game data folder.
Both “RMGTemp” folder and “index.bin” file must be deleted before starting a game.

Also, if you used Advanced Random Map Generator (ARMG) to create new maps, it is not enough just to generate new map (preferably with MMH55_Editor_64.exe.), after the map is generated, user must perform step1 and step2.

Step 1: click on “View” option in the Map Editor and select first option “Map Properties”. After that, “Adventure Map Properties” pop-up window appears. User has to click on “Player Properties” sub-tab, and then under “Player” slider menu, for every player, options “Main town”, “Generate Hero in Town”, “Human Playable” and “Computer Playable” have to be enabled.

Step 2: After step 1, user must click on “Teams” sub-menu, enable “Teams” option and select enough teams that every player is one team. That is, if map has 4 players then 4 teams have to be enabled and properly distributed in a manner that every player is one team.
Alternatively, if you want to create teams, you can still do that in whatever combination you want. Teams will work if “Teams” sub-menu of “Adventure Map Properties” pop-up window is enabled, and teams are configured within it.

After step2, user must save the map and not pay any attention on pop-up warning notice from mapmaker that states “As you’ve changed this map, rmg marker will be lost and multiplayer regeneration won’t work”. That’s irrelevant message. Just click-it-away. After that, map is saved, and then mapscript option can be added, either with mapmixer or Reanimation Patcher.

If step1 and step2 aren’t done, rmg maps cannot be played with MMH55_64.exe. When I try to play them in lan multiplayer with MMH55_64.exe, game says “RMG map load failed”.

Apparently, All RMG maps that comes with the game cannot be played with MMH55_64.exe. It seems to me that problem is the same, those maps are without step1 and step2.

They can be played with MMH55_Utility_64.exe, but MMH55_Utility_64.exe WILL create new clones of the map file and WILL constantly generate new “index.bin” file and “RMGTemp” folder in game data folder. I suppose that folder and file could cause synchronization issues in multiplayer games, either in lan or otherwise.

After step1 and step2 are done, all scripts are active for everyone, and map is playable both with MMH55_64.exe (for human players only) and with MMH55_Utility_64.exe (for humans and AI players) and both MMH55_64.exe and MMH55_Utility_64.exe will NOT generate new “index.bin” file and “RMGTemp” folder in game data folder, or make new map clones in game MAPS folder.

Thanks lot for replies. We have problem with default multiplayer maps on list. Here is our progress:

1. Host prepare game in GameRanger, invite friend and click on start.
-GameRanger will run H5_Game.exe (renamed MMH55_Utility_64)

2. Host create game and select already created map without specials (8skills)

3. Selected map is random. Sometimes it is map with 4-8 heroes. The Host locks them.

4. Play, after 1 day save game

5. host try load game. He is ok, but I cannot join with error 0.2.0

-we found additional problem: When I buy hero from tavern, Host get crash (program has stopped work).

We didnt tried properly generate map. Just one fast trying, which was surely bad. When host click on start in GameRanger, it will open game, not editor. So we thought Host just click on create, generate map and it will generate for joined players too. I thought we have to switch off game, edit map in editor and done. But I didnt find generated map in folder.

The day after tomorrow we will try uninstal heroes and instal again. Now he wanting pause and having some works.
Thanks for guide with ARMG. After solving the first problem we will try ARMG.

Edit: We deleted RMG temp and index.bin at first time. Now it does not appear.

What is the name of the map you are playing?
Perhaps you should try to play some standard maps like “War of the Worlds” or “Great Confrontation” and then see how is it going or if you have any problems.

My friend was choosing maps from HoMM55. Usually H55_4P_Square.
I have to wait minimaly 18 hours until friend comes in from work. I am alone.

After uninstal and instal same game we successfully started play default map "Catch and run" without problems. Saving and loading this map was successful too.

But then host tried generate map in HoMM55_utility_64. When he seen that he cannot find this map in folder and edit it in editor, he tried start this map. But from this moment of this trying we cannot see each other. So we(or just host) probably have to reinstal HoMM55 again...

So one player generate and edit map in editor and he have to send this map + created folder in folder "Editor" to others. Then before start all have to check if map is successfully edited in editor. Right?

edit: no, host doesn't have to reinstal game. It suddenly works. But we tried already created HoMM55_4P_Epic with 2 AI. When first player bought hero from tavern the game crash.

edit 2: Yeah, default multipalyer maps from original game works perfectly, but default multiplayer maps from HoMM55 works bad...

Edit 3: Thanks lot generated maps works perfectly too.

Angraell,

I suppose you are using Windows 10 as this behavior exists only there.
It happens because the game is installed in the system directory (C and the game (when playing and when generating maps) is not run as administrator.

There are 3 solutions.
- Always run the game by right click and "Run as administrator" option.
- Right click properties on each exe -> go to compatibility -> set the check mark on "Run this program as administrator". This way every time it is launched it will be as admin no matter what.
- Move the game folder away from the system drive

Oh.. I have windows 7 and my friend windows 10.
I tested LAN with my PC and my notebook by myself (I had to create second GameRanger account...)
So I hope the next fighting against problems will be easy
