No correct answers so far.

Writing/Reading I have been doing since highschool. Literally can spend an entire day doing it.

And biting my nails has been something I have been doing since I was like 7 years old. It used to be really bad and my nails would be chewed to snow.

Thank god it's not that bad anymore. Usually I just do it when anxiety is high or I am lost in thought. Thankful that my nails have finally recovered and look normal now.

If only I had your superpower of WRITING! I am an online marketer... sort of... and I need to write articles daily if I want results, and considering that it takes me about a week to get in mood for writing an article and then another 3-4 days to actually write it... after which I get bored and do nothing for a few months (hence why I am a pathetic online marketer and without money all the time).... yeah, I really really REALLY wish I had your superpower of writing articles all day long. I'd be filthy rich now by now

As for nails biting, I think everyone does it (well, I do it anyway). And if they don't do it, we don't care about them. I'm sick of seeing people who look perfect all the time but in reality they're just the results of happy coincidences in their life.

FirePaladin... you can't possibly know the answer, my friend. Unless you know oddball personally, which I doubt you do. At best you can guess just once more

Oh geez I haven't written something in months at this point. When I procrastinate I Procrastinate. I have about 35 half started word documents spread across 7 folders on my PC. Not to mention the stack of 5 notebooks of varying sizes that are half filled–and I think 2 are actually empty–of notes and ideas and scribblings for the books that I plan to write at some point in my life.

And then of course there is The Drawer™. I haven't opened it in a year and I loathe to think what things I have forgotten within it.

Oh! Then there is my Google Drive of course. That is full of stuff as well.

Yeah...... I am a bit of a mess.

Yeah I get that. I just try to take real good care of my nails cause they looked like hell back in the day. They were gross looking.

Man, procrastination is my biggest issue, as well. Had I not been such a lazy mofo a55hole I'd be far now. Procrastination is not good. It drags you down and you die poor and miserably. If you have so many books to see the light of the day there is no better time to do it than NOW! Seriously, just publish one, two of them and then - even if they don't get enough attention - at least you're decluttering your life and mind and are able to move forward. Procrastination is bad, man! Really bad. I've suffered from it for a decade and not even now I'm cured, but at least I've started reacting to it and have set goals for myself which I'm following, even if at a snail's pace, but doing something, even if little, is better than doing nothing.

Well, if they're gross disregard my sympathy. I thought you were biting small bits / corners AFTER you had already trimmed them, and that's totally acceptable

I think my biggest issue is that I am not very confident in my abilities as a writer. Lacking confidence in what I write. Lacking self-confidence in general but that is another, separate issue.

Another issue is finding people who actually like what I write. I only really have one friend who takes a continuous and vested interest in what I write. He literally asks about it all the time and encourages me. We've spent entire days talking about my writing and stuff. Even so, having one person may be an ego boost, but I just worry. It's hard sometimes. I want writing to be my career, but, I often wonder if I should just forget about it and go with the other two career options I have open before me.

Oh I meant the gross, disgusting nail biting. Not biting at them after trimming them.

The biting where you chew the nail down and then when there is no nail left to chew you start to bite at the skin on your fingertips. My fingers used to look like a dog had chewed on them. There were bite marks and open sores on them.

I don't know you personally to be able to give good advice based on your life, but from what you've described I would go with one of the 2 other career options.

And the reason I say this is because first and foremost you have to be able to buy food, and unless you are the next Paulo Coelho or Dostoievski you will not make enough money from writing (not from the get-go anyway) to afford food, rent, and pay bills in general.

And, if you really have an inclination for writing and stick with it you will eventually make enough money to become a full-time writer.

Now, whether or not people appreciate your writing is up to them to decide, but you can't know what they think about your writing until you present them with a sample of your writing. I would say that you write a short story / report / ebook / whatever (10-20 pages long, not more) and then post that thing for free in front of a reading-hungry audience. Unfortunately, I can't recommend a good place where you can post your novel because I genuinely don't know where reading-hungry people hang out. But you can do research and if you find 3-4 such websites / places that will accept your writing (you can literally write anonymously) that will get... I don't know... some 100k-200k views to your book / novel / report / whatever that is... and if those 100k people are allowed to rate your writing and/or give feedback on the parts they've liked / hated in your book... I think you will know how to write your next piece to impress them more.

Not that much, but in some of your posts you conveyed being agitated.

Unfortunately it seems I can't escape my fate of a winner, so here I go.
