Best cove hero? (HotA)
Aye landlubbers it's time for a special best hero poll.
This time for Horn Of The Abyss' pirate town Cove.
So go get your finest rum, your talking parrot and get ready to vote for the most dangerous pirate you can encounter on the seven seas.
You can vote for 17 Cove heroes in this poll, as either Elmore or Derek is available depending on if water is present on the map.

Voted Corkes but I miss Cassiopeia from the list, too. She is top, maybe better then any other level 1 specialist, due to starting skills and utility of Oceanids quite late in the game.

Sorry, I could'nt include all 17 heroes in a 10 options poll.
I know some people like Cassiopeia and yes I agree, she is a good hero. Illor is also not bad.

Illor's four stormbirds are quite useful early game and his Armorer is providential since the birds lack the defense bonus and it's an hard to get skill for Captains but besides that he is not that resourceful cause birds are easily replaced in main's army and become a scouts troop. I would rank him bellow Miriam, specially now that she starts with Logistics.

Can't decide between Jeremy, Corkes or Eovacius.
Corkes is probably best in huge maps because he buffs both the very strong Nix and Haspids with Offense.
Jeremy gives a fast and reliable start.
And I really like Eovacius lately, cloning Pirates is really good vs neutrals early on and the idea behind his special is quite refreshing.

I went with Anabel, as I often find picking her as my main. She gets some extra pirates, has very decent secondary skills, and makes the creatures who are the centerpiece of the town even better.

I kinda wish Tark could be a selectable hero in randoms, because all cove heroes are humans, and Nixes have kinda cool backstory anyway.

Anabel is indeed a very good hero.
I also like Tark, starting with Offense and Armorer and making Nixes even more durable. I'm unsure if he might be a bit OP though...

Astra, not because of any mechanical reason, but purely because I'm a big sucker for nostalgia, so a returning Heroes 1/2 hero appeals to me.

But I'm also a big fan of Astra and Manfred, as well as Leena and Anabel.

I think I already said this but for Bidley to be worth something he should start with Advanced Diplomacy, not Offense. Once I built the Gunpowder Warehouse, if I found him in tavern I would possibly still hire him if he had the extra troops but it would be to use him as a scout or immediately dismiss him. I wouldn't dream of develop him without the Diplomacy card. He is as useless as Dracon and Gelu would be if you could build a third upgrade to get their creatures in towns...

Yeah he would probably be best for running around the map picking up and upgrading pirates, either as main or support hero.
If he should be a "stay at home pirate" instead, you could at least skip on upgrading the pirate building twice, as Bidley will take care of the upgrading. That is if you have'nt already upgraded the building of course.
