I am actually speechless
Not a SINGLE thread for April Fools' Day. Nothing eventful, not even a hint. Nada de nada. Nimic frate. Zilch. No brave soul to undertake the task, not even the spammy/trollish VW regulars. No mod squad orchestrated hysteria either.
There is no way in hell this'll have me believe that HC has reached the level of maturity where such an easy opportunity for jokes is regarded as frivolous or uninteresting. Fat chance for that, we all know better. Thus I am deeply concerned and suspect that something is wrong at a fundamental level. Just what in the world has happened today?

Well I owed money in taxes this year (somehow..) and so I scheduled for the money to be taken out today. Cause the whole thing is a joke. That was my own personal April fools day to share. Does this count?

I hate this day. One of the stupidiest tradition ever crated. And don't even start with this "you need a sense of humor" crap... fortunately I see everywhere people are starting to get less involved with it.

Nobody is bothered by it around here anymore either. It might be that we are so much flooded with fake news lately, that there's no way to make faker news than normal fake news anymore.

All of the above and it seems large companies have more or less hijacked it. It's less of a common man thing these days, I guess. Didn't see any pranks at the office today either.

30 years ago when I said loud and clear that I HATE april fools and other garbage "tradition" I've been outcast from my entourage by my friends. Ok, maybe not outcast, but still. I could see their looks at me (like you're looking at a freak). And now "normal" people hate it, too... or at least are not into it anyway.
I guess freaks are not always wrong xD

Heheheh I dropped a link to a joke on the movie thread. For people who didn't click it, it was a video where somebody made up a fake twitter post and then ranted about it.

This could be true, too. But, it's not the case all the time because there are lots of people that I know who are younger than me (27 to 35 more specifically) who are also not into this stuff anymore, something that 30 years ago was unheard of. If you have said that you hate april fools, halloween and other meaningless "traditions" you would have been looked at as a freak (and I have been looked at like that). Nowadays, not so much

If you have a sense of humor, you can joke anywhere, anytime. You don't need a stupid celebration to do it. The only "fun" thing about this day is that you need to be on your guard everywhere you go (or at least it was so a few years back, fortunately no one gives a crap anymore) and stay clear from any news for 24 hours, cus each and every one might be potentially fake news.
While I know internet is basically built on fake news, I especially dislike all those "new product" jokes. If it's done with a fun factor, like for instance Blizzard once did (they made entire entries with art and text and such) where the whole formula was taken with a pinch of salt from the get-go, then it's okay. But many times it goes out of control, and the hoax needs to be debunked for a while...
Maybe the corporations started to take it seriously when their stocks were fluctuating because of "fake news".
